I'll be teaching in Ulaanbaatar for a week this summer and would like to take a day or two on my own to travel. I looked on the web and saw the Gun Galuut nature reserve--that looks very nice and doable on a day trip without staying over (though all of the travel agencies seem to want an overnight stay in a ger with a local family--which I can do without). Any suggestions on the park (is it worth it? who runs tours? can I simply get a car and driver who knows enough about the park to make the trip interesting but not overly expensive?) or anywhere else to visit.
