Uzbek Visa Support Letter?
Hey,
does anyone have any experiences in getting a Uzbek visa support letter, without actually buying a tour package from one of the authorized tour agencies? They seem to be the only ones offering support letters, but not without buying a tour....
Cheers

Best thing to do is work through one of the visa services that specialises in getting CIS visas (usually owned by CIS expats). The Russian ones generally do all the republics as well. Although I don't have direct Uzbek experience most of the style of visa operation in the Russia and the CIS republics comes from the old Soviet days, where they don't mind how you comply with the bureaucracy, just so long as your paperwork complies with it. It's been like this since Czar times.
So ask the visa service to get you the invitation. They will do so (and charge you for it). Similarly if there is any further registration process to go through once you arrive, they will give you an address of an associate to do so (more fees, alas).

http://www.ath.ru/ - Andrew's Travel House is a pretty long-established place in Moscow, but they're pricey.
Are you sure your hotel doesn't have a travel agency inside that can invite you?

There seem to be some reports on ft of tourists getting their visas on arrival to Tashkent. I know this thread is old but can anyone confirm if this is now the case. Also tourists don't need an invitation letter right?
