Connection Time in PVG

I am looking at flights to PVG from PEK for late May. There is a CA flight that arrives at 10:30 a.m. and my flight on SK departs at 13:40. Is this enough time for a connection, considering I am making a domestic to international change?

Unfortunately the earlier flight that a.m. is almost 3x the cost

Also, are CA flights normally ontime or are they delay prone?

Merci.

no prob at all. as long as you land by 12:40, you will be fine. mid morning flights aren't all that prone to delays (certainly not of the 2 hour variety) ime and pvg is a breeze.

in case you're curious, the flights i always complain about are the rush hour set. those are kind of like playing the lottery (e.g. out of 15 flights, 8 will be on time, 4 delayed 1 hour, 3 canceled)

Thanks moondog. Now the final trick question. How do I go about ticketing this flight? I put down delivery in Shanghai as I will be there a few days before. Can I book this on the internet or does it have to be done otherwise?

Sorry to be a newb here, never been to China before and don't want to run into a minor glitch like having a plane ticket that is invalid.

Oh yeah, one other question. The cost of my room and this flight is about equal to the cost of the train one way. Would you recommend flying or train in this case? The train makes me even more nervous because of arrival times, getting from the station to the airport etc.

Again, thank you for your help.

I love the train, but by my math, you must be paying around y300 for your plane ticket, which is a very good deal. Plus, Beijing is fun.

Unless you know someone in China that can front you cash, you'll probably have to wait till you get there to buy it. (I know elong takes credit cards, but I've never gotten competitive prices from them.) The process is pretty easy; all TAs deliver free of charge.

Again thank you moondog. My flight from PEK to PVG is y480, at least 1 flight is. The others are all y1100

Am I correct in assuming that it is a sale on that flight and chances are good that it will be gone by the time I get to China in May? If that is the case, is it possible for me to contact a travel agent now and have the ticket issued but held for pickup when I get there in May?

Or conversely, can I paypal you the $$ ahead and have you pick up the ticket? Just trying to save money here... being on a budget and all.

(as for my cheap hotel, staying at the Great Wall Sheraton using cash and points from SPG).

I wouldn't stress too much; 480 is pretty standard on that route (and, I've paid as low as 220 in the past). The only risk is that there aren't nearly as many flights to PVG as there are SHA (around 7 v. around 40). As a fallback, you could always fly down the day before, in which case, SHA would be a better option. Nevertheless, I will PM you when I get back there (not sure when that will be exactly, but sometime within the next 2 or 3 weeks).
