Laptop in Burma

I've been forewarned that the Myanmar officials can be very difficult about bringing a laptop into the country, and may take it and keep it until you depart. Does anyone have recent experience trying this? Is there much opportunity to connect it to the internet?

This warning has been overblown. I was travelling with a bunch of friends late 2004 and we all carries more electronics including laptops than the usual travellers and we didn't have any problem. Connecting to the internet is somewhat very difficult outside of Rangoon. The speed ranging from slow to abysmal slow as all traffics are filtered by the government. In most internet shops, you can't access the usual big internet emails provider either (Yahoo, MSN, Google, etc...) as they are also blocked.
