Is there an Audi AS?

I just got back from Shanghai. On my trip at one of the hotels, a local government official was staying there. When we left the official also left with her caravan of cars. The official rode in a buick. But in her caravan there were several black Audi's I don't know if I read it wrong. But is there an AS model in the Audi lineup? Or was it an A6?

I've never heard or read about an AS model. I'm pretty sure that it was an A6, seems to be pretty popular in China.

I was thinking the AS might stand for "Special" like a model made only for government officials.

I can't recall ever seeing an AS, but it's worth noting that car companies tailor their products to specific markets. Shanghai VW (which makes Audis, even if a separate entity exists) is a 50-50 JV between a German company and a Chinese company and has been doing its own R&D for the past 20 years. Basically, they take chasis (in some cases, very old chasis) from VW and Audi and modify them to suit local tastes. For example, lots of cars in China have disproportionally large back seats because adults ride in the back on a regular basis.

I'm pretty sure of the first letter A. It was the second letter that was fuzzy.
