T2 to T1 connections

I'm considering booking a return to the States from SIN on AA 7214 (a JAL code-share), arriving at NRT 3:55 pm, continuing on AA 128 to SJC. This involves going from JAL at Terminal 2 to AA at Terminal 1. When I had a similar connection there last month (from BNE) I made it only by the grace of an ground agent who took me in tow, got me through the transfer security lines with no waiting, and took me to where the shuttle bus for T1 leaves from. I'm not sure I can count on encountering her, or her clone, again.

Is this a ridiculous connection, even though aa.com is willing to sell it? (Alternatives are much more expensive.) Does anyone have any suggestions for navigating NRT in this situation?
