Samui Hotel Suggestions?
Hi all --
I'll be on Samui for 3 days / 4 nights at the end of September. We're having trouble deciding on a place to stay. We want to spend about 125-150/night. We've narrowed it to the new Anantara, the Amari Palm Reef Resort, Central Samui Beach Resort. But our open to other suggestions. We considered Tongsai Bay, but did not want to feel stuck on an overpriced resort.
We want somewhere not the in the center of the action on Chaweng Beach, but not too far away, either. Anyone have any suggestions? Want to help us decide?
Thanks,
Haveric

Anantara is too far north !!!
Anantara is too far north. Amari and Central are OK in term of distance from Chaweng. You can try Buriraya in Lamai Beach a bit south of Chaweng. The hotel is the newest and the most beautiful among these 3 hotels. You can check from buriraya.com.
Good luck

I've looked at the Buriraya again. Apparently, it will be come a Marriott Renaissance on 9/1/05. According to Marriott's press release, it may be under renovations for awhile, but not clear idea as to the impact of the renovations and/or when they would be completed.
I called Marriott and they had no idea.
