Thank you for allaying my fears - never been to CGK and was going to shell out for a Joumpa escorted transfer, but it seems they are no longer allowed into the sterile airside area.

Just be careful if trying to bring in more than a liter of alcohol. That’s one thing the customs guys really look for.

Only thing to remember is that you will have to complete the customs declaration on-line prior to arrival, and then show the bar code either printed out or on your phone when exiting customs.

Here is the official government customs declaration website:
https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/ and the official e-visa site: https://molina.imigrasi.go.id/ |
That’s very helpful - thanks all for your help and advice.

I didn’t know that - thanks for the tip. The problem is I booked the flights as award tickets with KLM and the info on my KLM booking is pretty scant - not even luggage allowance info. And I can’t check in online it seems but only at counter. So information that would normally be supplied by the airline (like customs, visa, health) are all missing. Googling the correct online site is confusing depending on which embassy page you land on - evisa? molina? And even the e-cd page seems to exist in multiple places.
No fear, Malaysia is the same with alcohol so no alcohol! |

Why no alcohol ? It is allowed but like every other country that allows importation, it’s limited.

About alcohol never had any issue entering with a couple of bottles of wine, last time I was sent to the red line for scanning the baggage but the agent even he probably saw there were 3 bottles he could not care less. Another time was asked about content, just informed it was wine and not spirits plus one bottle of olive oil and he let me go. But there is always risk be that a zealous agent ask to open the bag and to declare (and pay) for the extra bottles, that's why I never take very expensive bottles, in the worse case I would just drop the bottles at the custom and leave.

I may need to book a ticket from KUL to CGK exit to pick up luggage and re enter for my flight with Egypt Air. In this case how much time you think o will need to be on the safe side? Never been in CGK before
|
4 hours should be safe. I assume you are arriving on a LCC that will not check luggage through?

MH and MS do have a baggage interline agreement.
