Blue Bird group ( includes Silver Bird - premium rate) is always considered the most reliable.
I always pay cash, so no knowledge as to whether cards are accepted.

Bluebird has a pretty good app that you can use to get the taxi and also prepay for the trip, kinda like uber way of charging. You can use US phone number to sign up and store credit card on it to pay for fares. I used it this past summer and it was very convenient, and the app also gives promo codes.

Nor is it a walkable area, not to mention it's that much further from CGK.

I stayed last year (at discounted fare) and my experience was positive, did not feel a particular snob atmosphere, beside a small discussion with check in agent that could have been handled better (insisting the room was booked for two while All app stating clearly that booking was including our child) all other personnel was very kind and proactive, room was fine to me, breakfast had a wide choice, art did not impress me either but I'm not an expert.
Yes, location is less walkable than Thamrin/Bundaran but concerning distance with CGK the differences is negligible in my opinion, hotel is also connected to the Ciputra World mall; just to talk about another not attractive location Four Season for instance is right in front of main city highway with most of the main city attractions at the opposite side.

Make sure to budget enough time for exit immigration - it took about 30 minutes in the slowest moving line I ever saw. Seems like certain individuals would get held up for a long time if there were issues as the line next to me was blocked by some passengers having to use phones to translate with the officers. It would be nice if they had a side line or waiting area for passengers who have some sort of issue.

Smartly operated single line, multi-agent queueing is the answer.

Get an APEC card if you are eligible.

(All of this is trying to leave Sorong and get to SIN in the same day instead of the overnight in Jakarta.)
We are thinking that our Sorong to CGK flight arrives at 10 AM (and it is usually on time) so we will have more than enough time to make the 14:10 SQ flight. The problem is on the other end: We are kind of worried about the SQ flight that arrives at SIN at 17:05 and how likely it is that we will make our connecting SQ flight at 19:50... The CGK-SIN flight (SQ 959) is often delayed but usually arrives around 17:30, but has been as late as 18:00-18:30. If we arrive at 18:30 for the 19:50 that seems like it's really pushing it...

SQ says they can check our bags onto the next flight so that will save time, but they probably start boarding that SQ flight by 19:00 latest.

If you dont have to exit immigration and re-check in, you have plenty of time for your connection at SIN. Even if you arrive at 18:30 ( which sounds like more of a worst case scenario ) you still have 1:20 to make your connection, and that is plenty for SIN with their efficient transfer process. In reality, it'll probably only take you 15-25 minutes to transfer once you get off the plane in SIN.

+1 APEC card is a god-send for skipping lines. Pays for itself too as you can avoid the $50 Visa on Arrival.

Only the Asian members of ASEAN can avail themselves of visa-free entry, Canadians and Americans must still apply
for Visa, VOA, or e-VOA even with the Apec card.

Don't worry - even a one hour SQ-SQ connection is relatively stress free in SIN. If you are tight, they will meet you at the door
with a buggy. There is no immigration, and simply a security check at the gate of the next flight. You will collect your boarding
pass for the onward flight when you check in at CGK.

I was just on SQ 959 - it was delayed by 15 minutes, but it's SQ - everything is efficient, including de-boarding (I was in the last row - 62 - of a full flight).

Not just ASEAN. Everyone else except CA and US also gets visa-free access. I'm Aussie and get in with my APEC card whereas I'd otherwise have to get a $50 VOA.

LONG layover - separate PNR at T3 CGK

We are looking at a very long layover next year, separate PNR adn wondering what the heck we can do at CGK prior to checking in for our onward flight
Itinerary: SOQ-CGK on Garuda arrives 10:10am
Then separate flight JAL CGK-NRT at 9:25pm checkin listed at 6:30pm
What the heck do we do (with luggage) for 8 hours?
Is there anything at T3 to do in th eprecheckin area?
UPDate - another question - is there any kind of vip transfer assist that you can book with facilities to use during that long layover airside?

TIA

Park your bags in left luggage, take a taxi to PiK (Pantai Indah Kapuk), a smart outer suburb of Jakarta 15 minutes or so from the airport. The destination would be the PIK Avenue mall: lots to see, do ... and buy.

Alterrnatively take a taxi with your bags to a day-room at one of the hotels attached to the PIK Avenue mall. There's a Swissôtel and better-priced Mercure. There are other hotels even closer to the airport, but they don't offer the diversions of PIK.
