Alliance-based groupings at terminals

The airport authority disclosed a plan to regroup airlines by alliance at its two terminals. This is intended to reduce congestion and cut loss for inter-airline transfers.

It will take effect after the scheduled completion of Terminal 1 renovation in late 2005.

Some airlines are apparently still opposed.

oneworld - Terminal 2. AA, BA, CP and AY are in T1 now.

The airport authority's press release says ''consideration will be given to the request by BA, CX and AY to remain in T1.

Star - T1, South Wing, Satellites 3-5.

NZ's request to remain in T2 will also be given consideration, the release says.

Currently, North Wing is open at T1. South Wing is closed for renovation. Satellite 1 is used mainly by BA, CX, AA, AF, SQ. S2 by UA, S3 has been demolished for rebuilding. S4 is used by NW. S5 -- dun know.

SkyTeam - T1 North Wing, Satellite 1,
DL's request to remain in T1 will be given consideration, the release says.

Wings - T1, North Wing, T2, new central building, part of S1, S3 as required.

JL and its customer firms - T2
NH and its customer firms - T1, South Wing -- naturally. AAR (??) and THY (TG?) are requesting to remain in T2.
