There are taxi dispatchers in the lobby area as you leave immigration (to your left). They will take your payment and give you a chit to give to the designated driver. Painless even if all you speak is English.

I think it may be less expensive to go outside to the taxi queue - the option I suggest will get you a ride in a Mercedes while going outside you'll be in a Toyota or somesuch. I think they handle the language barrier at the regular taxi queue as well..

If you choose to ride a tuk-tuk (AFTER you're at your hotel, for just a short ride) agree on a price before getting in, and don't accept any offers for a "free" shopping trip. I generally thought it was better to accept the driver's first offer, after mentally figuring that it was in the $4 range.
