Beijing in October

Hi All,

I am thinking seriously about taking a trip to Beijing this October.

How is the weather (in terms of temperature and precipitation) in late October?

Thanks!

IME, fall is the most pleasent time of year in Beijing because the weather is nice and the polution is relatively tame. You might consider setting your dates based on the fall foliage there -- many of the popular Beijing attractions (Xiangshan in particular) are especially breathtaking amidst the backdrop of colorful leaves.

There is the moon festival each October, and it seems like the entire country is on the move. You might want to avoid that week (and I'm not sure which one it is).

World Cup soccer is also taking place in various cities in China during October 2003.

Don't make the tourist mistake and try to see all the major sites in just 1 or 2 days.
Go to only 2 places a day 3 max. Each place requires you to walk about 3-4 miles so be warned. You might even want to go the private tour route. Very cheap for a driver with car and a guide.
