Uber in Manila
I know there are some threads on Uber in ZZZ here, but I didn't find one about Manila anywhere. So I thought I'd start one to mention that Uber has been suspended in Manila for one month, starting Aug. 14, 2017.
This is from the government and has to do with Uber not obeying an order with increased car registrations (ostensibly regarding the horrible traffic). Uber is "studying" the order.
Many news articles reporting it if you google, but here's a decent one in Nikkei Asian Review. I suppose it might be lifted earlier than 1 month, but if you're heading to MNL be aware. And Grab is a good viable alternative.

No, it was a misunderstanding that they would be resuming so soon.
I used Uber frequently in Cebu (very nice not having to watch a meter continue to run when stuck in that awful traffic) but I suppose I will have to settle for Grab on this occasion.
