Bali mosquitoes in Villa vs hotels?

I'm planning a trip to Bali in January/February and love the look of the villas in Ubud vs. hotels. But I hate mosquitoes. I know this is very general question, but how bad would mosquitoes be if staying in villas vs. hotels.

I highly doubt mosquitoes discriminate between villas and hotels, if they are there they will find you.

Some hotels probably spray constantly to keep their mosquitoes under control.

Thanks for your comments. The physical difference seeems to be hotels are more enclosed vs. most villas I've researched have open concept with whole walls open to the outside.

I know too general, just have to look harder I guess.

Of course it's a question of location, too. You're going to have more bugs of all kinds out in the rice fields than right in the centre of Ubud.

But yes, construction also matters: if you want to minimise wildlife intrusions, then look for a place with glass windows and a closed ceiling, not a thatched roof.

Nonetheless, Bali isn't a great place for those who are really sensitive to crawly and flying things.
