Transit at DPS
Is transiting at DPS airport easy?
I plan to fly from Singapore to Townsville on the 9th of November and board the Jetstar flight from Denpasar to Townsville at 1:10am on the 10th of October.
I am unable to book this route on one ticket (Otherwise I'd have to fly via Brisbane and would not land in Townsville till after 10am) and need advice with the flight from Singapore to Denpasar. I won't have baggage and I won't be able to online check-in for the Jetstar flight so I'll need to make the 45-minute check-in deadline. (unless DPS has airside transit counters ?)
My Options from Singapore are
8:40pm SIN -> 11:30pm DPS (Air Asia) leaving 1 hour 40 minutes to transit
6:05pm SIN -> 8:50pm DPS (SilkAir) leaving 4 hours 20 minutes to transit
5:35pm SIN -> 8:15pm DPS (KLM) leaving 4 hours 55 minutes to transit (would fly business class on this option, if that makes a diference)
So my real question is 1 hour 40 minutes to short to transit or should I take the longer 4 hours 20 minutes option?

Same view as above, DPS is a popular airport for many LCC and AirAsia might delay not because of their own reason but because of smaller regional carriers who has a not so good reputation for time performance

Here's another option that I appreciate will probably be NO help, but just in case...
Jetstar do of course fly SIN-DPS, and you can book a through ticket SIN-DPS-TSV. Trouble is it leaves SIN at 05:20 and arrives Bali at 08:00. So 18 hours in Bali?
You could treat it as a stopover, especially if handbag only. Get out and hit the beaches, get a cheap room you can use a shower, have a lovely meal etc, then hit the airport late. Save you worrying about misconnects anyway?

If you have a non-guaranteed transfer, as you are proposing, you should not have such a short transfer. If you are late in any way, you'll miss your connecting flight and have to buy a new ticket. The airline won't sell you a ticket with a guaranteed transfer because even they don't think you'll make it.
You'll need to clear immigration as there is no transfer facility. This can take 20 minutes or it can take 2 hours if a 747 full of Chinese just landed in front of you.
I wouldn't do any less than a 4 hour transfer.

Hi all. Quick question.
Friend of mine is flying AU-DPS-China, GA->GA connection at DPS.
Is it possible to do airside transfer? TIMATIC says Chinese nationals cannot avail themselves of TWOV at DPS and must pass through immigration and collect luggage as part of the transfer (although one assumes luggage will be through checked). Chinese get 30 day visa free anyway, but I'm just wondering about the transit situation. The GA website even pops up a message that a visa may be required for the transit at DPS.

No airside transfer was possible at DPS the last time I was there (2016), doin't know if that situation has changed since then; probably not as very few pax would be transfering normally.

DPS may not be considered a normal transit point (destination in itself) but there are daily flights from Australian capital cities, and likewise capitals in Asia. There would be at least a few each day connecting INT-INT.

I warm this up and want to ask if someone did a international transit in DPS lately?
Air Asia onto SQ and a lot of hours buffer time in between.
Do I really have to do the complete immigration?
Cabin baggage only....
Thank you!
