I've had amazing streetfood at the same time for pennies. No idea if this is relevant - KL will be full of great options for all cuisines and budgets.

Yes, as the poster above notes, good food is plentiful in KL.
Are you looking for somewhere romantic or somewhere buzzy? And, on a different axis, somewhere trendy/flashy or more relaxed/low-key? In my experience, the choices are plentiful (more so even than Melbourne which is already a long way up my list of foodie cities, but let's not get into that debate right now) so some guidance would help with recommendations.

Also any ideas a good bar? Is Skybar really all its cracked up to be?

I haven't been to Tamarind Hill, but I have been to Tamarind Springs (the original on a hill in the suburbs) and can say it's worth the trip as long as you can avoid weekday rush hour. Other suggestions:
Romantic: Rama V is tucked away in a quiet residential neighbourhood just outside of the city centre
Trendy: Cantaloupe has a stunning view and contemporary menu

I like Eden Village a lot for splurges in the Golden Triangle area.
You should also try Jalan Alor one night. Lots of sidewalk places with big menus slugging it out and creating a big draw. Not fine dining but a good value.
