BKK or SIN?
Hi - Planning a trip for next winter, but need to confirm my ticket by tonight. Going to Phuket as one destination, but have the option to visit another city. Would love to know your thoughts.... Should I visit BKK or SIN with my wife? Pros/Cons to each? What would you do?

How many days are u going to be in the area?
Going this far u need to cover all 3... BKK, SIN and KUL.
they are all under 2 hours flying time away and cheap Air Asia
Tigerair etc budget airlines too...
My suggestion... cover the entire area...

My personal preference would be BKK. More things to visit, more fun. SIN is a great place to do business, but a bit too sterile and boring for a tourist.

Thanks. Booked SIN but managed to get the routing so I can spend 24 hours in BKK.

Why the hell people still come to Thailand if they don't have to ? Masochists ? Love to be scammed ? Want to communicate with people not wanting to do so ? Loving places with inflated currencies and extremely dangerous roads ?

Skip the nasty part of this corner of the world and use SIN as a platform, civilized Langkawi as beach location (unless you need pollution, bars and pro..... in Phuket) and if you want something more rustic fly Silk Air to Siem Reap to visir Angkor Wat or even Vietnam.

Firstly, this reply is unpleasant to read.
Maybe the poster had a bad time in Thailand. Maybe they only explored the areas that they seem so keen to damn. Maybe they just couldn't get laid. I don't know.
But the Thailand I've been to is quite the opposite, sure some parts of Phuket aren't great, so don't go there. Try Nai Harn, or Nai Ton beaches, far superior to the over-touristed Patong.
Use Phuket as a jumping off point for some stunning island trips, Koh Racha, Similan, Koh TaChai.
The only good beach, in my opinion, in Langkawi is at Tanjong Rhu (in the north) but quite remote and nothing to do.
In fact, as someone who's travelled extensively in Malaysia and Thailand, and in reality as most will know, the beaches on the islands in Thailand are generally far superior to the beaches in Langkawi (mostly brown sand).
Telling also that the highest number of foreign visitors to Thailand are from Malaysia.
As for civilised, that's up to the individual to make up their own mind: I believe this poster's comments are ironically far from it.

No need to! This particular poster is well known across this board for many years of flaming against the country of Thailand and its people, Thai Airways, cynical comments against women, children onboard aircraft (even worse: in premium cabins, yikes!) or anyone different than what he obstinately considers a correct lifestyle - competely in contast to his nickname

I struggled to bring myself to respond to this bizarre response, but I felt I had to. We're all entitled to our own opinions, of course, so I'll share mine.

My "amen" post was directed solely to flyinruddl who in the past took a very agressive stance regarding the entitlements of his family and deeply dislikes me.
To be back OT if asked BKK or SIN, I still say SIN
. But that's just me!

But of course I am among the group of people who dislike reading your pointless, hatred filled comments about Thailand and all that comes along. Go back and re-read your first post in this thread and tell me its fair, objective and helpful for the OP. Right, its not.
Second: Of course I havent asked for any entitlements regarding my family but feel free to start digging for some old threads to prove your false assertion.

This post and the many off topic and overly-personalized comments do not belong in the "Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus" Forum, but most of them serve no purpose in the appropriate destination forum either.
The OP has asked a question, had a reply and has booked flights. The rest in this thread is opinion and personal exchange, so it is considered to be done; we will stick a fork in it and move it.
