Skyteam destinations from BKK?
I will have some free time in March to travel out of BKK. Does anyone have suggestions for inexpensive Skyteam segment runs (I am not going to travel that much this year, so segments are the only way I am going to hang on to elite status), ideally to a destination with some nice food and a little culture? Top of my list so far are PVG (I've never been) and TPE (went for the first time for New Year's and loved it).
I like HKG and MFM a lot, but have been to both often.
Thanks for your suggestions!

One of the cheapest and shortest would be surely BKK-PNH on AF B772. And PNH (and rest of Cambodia) is a very nice destination.

Thanks for your suggestions. Other cheap flights I've been looking at include KL to TPE and KQ to HKG.
Does anyone have any suggestions for other destinations in Vietnam or Taiwan? For example I see that CI has packages that include flights and hotels in KHH or RMQ that are very affordable, but I don't know anything about either place!

Taichung has some nice places nearby in the mountains that would make for a nice visit, but the same can be said for most of the Chinese cities. Maybe flying on CZ through CAN to an interesting Chinese destination isn't a bad idea. However, I'm not entirely positive those flights will credit in full....

From Hanoi you could take a short VN flight to Vinh if you fancy seeing what East German post-war reconstruction looks like. Flight is 40 mins (on a Fokker jet) to one hour (on an ATR72). Or there's Dien Bien Phu if you're a military history buff.
From Saigon, there are more and better options all around the south - Nha Trang is Vietnam's "resort" city, Phu Quoc its resort island (and not that developed - yet), Con Dao for the best diving in Vietnam, etc.
In a weekend it'd be easy to pick up four or more segments by hopping around on VN. Quite a few airports are long drives from the town centres though (but not SGN, which can be done in under ten minutes when there's no traffic, and more like 25-30 when there is).
