If you go to the Druk air site, you can see all about the flights. Looks like 2:20 from DEL. I went in the summer, and all alone without a tour group. But I was on a business visa. Even in the summer it was a bit cool in the evenings, so I imagine in would be quite cold in the winter.

Thanks. Snow White has a good website and I've found a trip report on fodors. I'm thinking maybe of March but will check out festival dates. There is also a good tv show called Art Wolfe's Travels to the Edge and one of his episodes featured Bhutan-looks like a fascinating destination.

Yes Snow White booked our airfare as well.. we wired them the money for the tour+airfare before arriving in Bhutan. (All money went initially into the government escrow account rather than to the tour company itself). The owner Kencho did an excellent job she and managed to get us in all the best hotels.

The flight was about 2.5 hrs. We got a seat on the left side of the plane DEL-PBH and right side PBH-DEL to get a great view of Mt. Everest.

We were there in the winter, late December. Weather was fine during the day (50s) and chilly at night (below freezing in Phobjikha valley). There was no snow except at the two mountain passes, and then just a dusting on the ground.

I never did get around to writing a trip report for that trip... but my photos are up at http://www.flickr.com/photos/hautebo...7623505530422/
