To repeat an oft repeated phrase.....
A HUGE thanks to our FT friend Alex, aka Gaucho100K for all of his assistance in arranging for a wonderful selection of wine and prviding a shipping container for its safe travels back through EZE, IAD and ATL.
Talk about a wonderful resource for all of us on FT who travel to EZE or anywhere in Argentina!
I could have shot a PM, but it just can't be said enough (and refer enough people to his store in Buenos Aires) about how wonderful it is to work with Alex.
Thanks again!

I hope to get there in June during at trip to EZE and will buy some famous local red wine. Having only a carry on it seems I'll be forced to drink it while in Argentina but it is a punishment I'm prepared to accept.
I look forward to meeting Alex.

After trying the local Malbec, you may want to rethink checking a 6 or 12 bottle package (which Alex provides for you). Mine made it back with no problems and I look forward to my next trip (hopefully sooner than later).

There is no way I would go to BsAs and not stop by Terroir to visit with Alex and learn about the new wines he has found since my previous visit. I alway order at least six bottles to bring home. Terroir packages them well so that those "soft handed" airline baggage handlers can't destroy them.....
Terroir is an experience, not just a wine shop. I am going down there in May and looking forward to seeing my friends (Alex, his wife and family) getting my education and buying more wine.

I would definitely refer Terrior and Alex's expertise to anyone traveling to Buenos Aires and I plan to visit his shop every time I'm in Buenos Aires.
Not only does Alex and his staff assist you in finding the perfect wine for you, they take the extra care of packing it so well that the wine will definitely make it back home no matter how many connections you have.
I purchased my wines from a list of suggestions Alex made for me and the boxes were delivered to my hotel the night before my departure.
My only regret is that I didn't buy more
I guess I need to pay Buenos Aires another visit.
I can't thank you enough Alex for helping us find exactly what we wanted.

Terroir is well worth a visit...
We read about Terroir & Alex on FT prior to a 2009 visit to BA, but never managed a visit. During that trip, however, we did discover some wonderful wines in Mendoza that whetted our appetite for more.
So, when we returned to BA in Feb. 2010, I reached out to Alex in hopes of finding and bringing home more great wine. Alex was flexible in setting up an appointment and graciously greeted us (even spotting us a few small bills to pay the taxi driver!).
Alex asked questions to better advise us on our purchases (varietal preference, price point, number of bottles we planned to bring home) and provide us with an optimal variety of wines. He provided candid feedback (e.g., the best Torrontes is available in the US...no need to purchase in BA) and pointed us to wines that we could get only in Argentina and that provided good value.
Alex provided the shippers and we checked two half-cases (EZE-IAD-LAX) which arrived intact. He also provided us with guidance re: customs and we had no problems upon arrival at IAD.
We enjoyed talking with Alex about his association with Terroir, and even more so about the wine. I certainly recommend his shop - and will continue to do so for anyone I know who's visiting BA.
