I'll take a personal recommendation over a spiffy website any day.

Granted but some of those websites have far less properties and many of those are rather expensive for my budget.

It didnt strike me that ByTArgentina were a spiffy firm based on visiting their offices and having had numerous dealings with them. I must have used them around 8 times in the past and never had a problem but then I always inspect the property with the owner.

My eyes bugged out, and I walked back to T-1, inside, and paid the normal price. Maybe I looked like a sucker and he was going to pocket some $, but he ended up with nothing.

Based on recommendations here, we used the Taxi Ezeiza booth in the terminal and paid $88. I won't say I wasn't scared, though. The hotel called a private car for our return to the airport. The price was $90, but we never exceeded 60 MPH.

Excellent advice, especially with the air fares going up for tourists.Argentinas coaches are a fantastic way to travel. If you're not rushed for time I would definately recommend them. ^

Never accept to take those "taxis" offered by guys out of the terminal or even inside. BamaVol is wright, best option and cheapest is to get the Taxi Ezeiza. They also had an offer 2 weeks ago returning from BA to the Airport for 50 pesos, an authentic bargain.

And as Bill says, baby and kid clothes are great there. Look for Mimo and Cheeky.

This was at a booth outside, and only because I was at T-2 (and ended back at T-1 to buy a ride inside per usual).

There's Nothing Better Than Being Met After A Long Flight to EZE

INTERCAR.

If you don't use them, than you have no one but yourself to blame. Their service costs about the same as a normal cab. Their quality is higher. And you can feel self-important as the driver holds-up a tablet with your name on it in the arrivals hall.

It's probably a rare case, but I had a driver fail to meet me at CDG and that caused me 2 hours of stressful delay. There have been reports of that at EZE as well, although not the company you are recommending. I stick to taxis now, especially when I get a recommendation here.

And, some of the people I've encountered on FT don't need any help boosting their sense of self-importance. :D

I've taken taxi's that had dropped someone off at EZE a few times, with no problems. As long as you negotiate the price in advance, or use the meter, I see no problem.

Jaimito Cartero, Iīm talking about security and not prices here. Several robberies were reported on the last years of (taxis?) offering services at the terminals (not the ones that just had dropped a passenger there). Im argentinian and I dontīt take them at all... big mafia.

I'm writing this from my hotel room in Lujan, about 70 km outside Buenos Aires.....Great trip so far. We rented a car due to traveling outside the Capital, but I would not recommend it if you are staying in Buenos Aires. Congested streets and crazy porteno drivers. We parked the car in a garage and took the subte and collectivos around town.

Later that night we dined at Gran Hollywood...a little off the beaten path in Palermo....bife de lomo.....plenty big for 2 people was 25 pesos. If you add papas fritas and a soft drink, the total bill for 2 people comes to about 43 pesos....and then ad 2 pesos for the cubierto and 5 pesos for the tip and we were out of there for 50 pesos total or about $17.00. It's really worth finding this place. It's on the corner of Guatemala and Bonpland. This place was completely full and as far as I could tell, we were the only foreigners there. We finished eating about 11:00 at night and people were still arriving.

I have friends in Argentina and have enjoyed visiting with them. We are having an asado tomorrow...Sunday here in Lujan with some freinds then on to Junin Monay.

If you get a chance to visit the zoo out here in Lujan, it is fantastic. They allow you in the cages with Lions and tigers and you can pet them and let them drink milk from your hand. You can ride an elephant and a camel and play with the monkeys. Fun place.

Samftla,

I got on the website. It only allowed me to book from Buenos Aires. How do I check the return schedule and costs?

Once you find out which bus line you want, on the home page click on Retiro which when you scroll down will reveal all the bus lines. Click on the one you want and the next page will provide all the contact information for that bus company including a web site if they have one. Click on the web site for the bus company and purchase that way.

Can you elaborate on that? Because I've used them many times and now many of us coming to Cow Do this year are going to be using them again.

I'd like to know what you feel is bad or what the rep is based on.

Also an alternative to it that you feel is better would be good.

There are many reputable firms, ApartmentsBA, Temporary Apartments, Reynolds (argentinahomes.com) Buenos Aires Habitat just to name a few. ApartmentsBa and Reynolds in my opinion have the best reputations in the city.

As for specifics about ByT it seems the most common complaint has been that the apartments do not turn out to be as shown on their web site. Photos show a well furnished, well maintained apartment and renters arrive to find barely furnished, mattress on the floor, malfunctioning plumbing, internet connections promised but never provided, etc. Other complaints that seem regular are bait and switch...people reserve one apartment and just prior to arrival are notified that it is no longer available and are promised a "nicer" apartment which turns out to be a total dump. Another typical complaint is that some of their owners "claim" missing or soiled items and keep a large portion of the deposit even when such items were not on the inventory list and ByT supports the owners. I am sure every rental agent has had some complaints but they seem to rack up far more than any other agency in town.

Sam

Thanks for the info.

This does not match the majority of my rentals from them but I was disappointed in last years. Its what I get I figure for using the same price over 3 years.

Gaucho100K Jul 21, 2008 12:00 pm

Remember that apartment rentals have gone up quite a bit since last year.... so dont expect to get the same deal on the same apartment, unless you can negotiate a nice discount.
