It seems both American and Delta are adding NYC-EZE flights.

American Airlines, Delta to add flights from New York to Buenos Aires

Wednesday, June 18, 2008
American Airlines Inc. and Delta Air Lines Inc. have won government approval to add flights from New York to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The U.S. Department of Transportation OK'd Deltas application to launch service between New Yorks John F. Kennedy International Airport to Buenos Aires with five flights a week during the peak December-April season and four flights a week in other months.

American was granted the right to add five flights a week to the single daily flight it now operates between the two cities.

Sorry as I will be to see EZE-ORD disappear, it's no great surprise. On my ORD-EZE flight last week there were 110 passengers on board, less than 50% capacity. A shame as I was planning on flying via ORD for future trips to NYC as it's far easier to score an upgrade than on the direct flight. Oh well

looks official In addition to adding a flight dfw - eze
AA has added a second JFK-EZE a 763, flights 993-994 starting Nov 6 looks like 4-5 times a week and probably seasonal. this in addition to 955 and 956

So despite fears an d speculation of some AA is not cutting EZE service.

Where was there 'fear and speculation'? The OP stated that AA was eliminating the EZE-ORD flights. That is a fact - not speculation. DL and AA are adding flights from JFK and that is a positive fact.

OP also said "I suspect all non-MIA US routes to EZE are vulnerable if oil doesn't start to pull back" http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/080527/latu524.html?.v=10

and on the aa thread there has been speculation of cutting these flights
