Thanks for the reply. This is why I was hoping for a link to check the current conditions. I don't plan to bring equipment, just ski clothes. This is only a week off and I have heard there have been snowstorms recently, anyone have additional info?

www.andesweb.com this has been a great yr for snow in the Andes! And according to the latest newsletter, Bariloche got dumped on again and expecting more this wkend. I will be there 9/1-9/3 prior to Cow-Do. Bariloche is probably the easiest/closest ski resort to reach via an airport.

Rustyr, thanks for that link about the ski conditions. I may have to see if I can manage to cut over there sooner than later and get some skiing in as well.

If I get there for Labor Day weekend, I won't be doing a hotel myself in Buenos Aires this time .... friend and his wife insist I stay at there place overlooking the polo fields there this time.

If you make it to EZE over Labor Day weekend, I believe I owe you a beer or a drink or something from a pre-US election challenge you made to me on OMNI.

What kind of "challenge"? That I said that Bush would most likely win the popular vote, but that the electoral college was perhaps more up for play than the popular vote (e.g., perhaps a sort of "reverse" of 2000)? Or that Pakistani-Americans voted for and financed Bush's election coffers and were not bailing from their traditional ship in the GOP in significant numbers? Or that Wisconsin would not vote for Bush? :D (I don't really remember making any bets that would provide me drink, but I am always up for something warming on the slopes, as well as before or after. :) )

I just flew from EZE to GRU this morning. If you are into serious nightlife you have to plan to be up and partying at least until 6:00AM. I did this for six nights in a row.

wow - this is a really long thread.
So I am flying LAX-Mexico City-Santiago-to Buenos Aeries in December, business class. It looks like a 763 for one leg and an Airbus for the other leg on LanChile. If anyone has any LanChile warnings, please let me know!

EZE- Restaurant alert for those who like CHOCOLATE and good service. I just got back from Bs As for the 7th time in as many months and found a GREAT restaurant in Palmero SOHO. It is called Meridiano 58 and it's on Borges and El Salvador. Try the Marques de Chocolate and enjoy the terrace seating :)

LanChile is a good airline, better food and service than any of the US companies these days.

There are usually a couple of artists at the outdoor market in Recolletta, especially on weekends, its the market just outside of the Buenos Aires mall. If you have no luck there head into Palermo on a weekend, go to Plaza Serano (at the end of calle Serano).

I was reading on www.virtualtourist.com that if you bring in us dollars to be changed make sure they are clean, not torn or wrinkled or any markings on them as they will be hard to change for fear of counterfeits. Anyone experience this?
