Any recommendations for good nightlife with a younger crowd (20s-30s) on Friday and Saturdays? I'm not looking to tango, but would appreciate some recommendations for night clubs and bars. Staying at the Tryp in the Microcenter, if that makes a difference. I assume that I shouldn't show up before midnight or 1 a.m. Please correct me if that is wrong.

You are right about not showing up until midnight.... check with your Concierge regarding the latest top places to go to, but here is a shortlist for you to consider:

- Tequila
- Pacha
- El Divino (reconfirm this is still open)

Its not usual for 20 somethings to be hitting the bar scene.... in EZE, they are mostly found at the Dance Clubs.

I know that it is not customary to tip taxi drivers in Argentina (just round up or down) but does this also apply to remise drivers? If tips are expected, what would be an appropriate amount?

If it is one of my regular drivers I do tip him 10%, but if it is a new one then just a token amount unless they really go out of their way to assist.

Another would be Gran Bar Danzon Libertad 1161 piso 1 big selection of wines and pretty good food too. Patrons tend to be the Pupy (Porte�o Urban Professionals Young) types.

As for later dance clubs I have not been there recently but Niceto on Niceto Vega 5510 http://www.nicetoclub.com used to be totally hot. And Amerika if you like mixed clubs. http://www.ameri-k.com.ar

A new place has opened but do not know anyone that has been there yet...Le Bar Tucuman 422. It would be fairly close to where you are staying. Also near you would be Palacio/Alsina. It is gay on Friday and Sundays but mostly straight on Saturdays. Great space and fantastic music. At Alsina 940.

Frankly I would not recommend going to any of the dance clubs until 1 or later. Otherwise you might be there pretty much by yourself.

I need a one night stay in BA preferably not too far from Aeroparque because I have a 6:30 am flight (I'm arriving in town around noon the day before). I'll be back in BA for a longer stay, but for this brief visit, I just need something clean, comfortable and affordable. The last time I was in this situation, a local travel agent booked me into the Wilton for about US$50. But their rates seem to have since doubled.

hi there... i will be traveling to Bs As with my gf between 11/21 and 11/30. it will actually be her birthday and i wanted to take her out to a super nice and romantic restaurant (maybe with character, charm and views?).

any suggestions?

also, i am debating if for those 9 days in Bs As i should get a hotel or just rent an apartment? sounds like hotel is more convenient way to go, but aparments are so much cheaper.

and lastly, should i rent a car? (i love driving) or taxis cheap and plenty?

(i am so excited about the trip.. expect a lot more question from me as i get more into planning )

Hello jkb76-- I would forget renting a car.... Taxis are all over the place and are inexpensive (for US standards). Plus, many places you will want to go dont have parking on-site (EZE is not like California in terms of the car culture). Apartments can be much cheaper, but the "much" component will depend on how high you go up the hotel ladder... please note that some of the luxury apartments available for rent that also have full services can also be quite expensive, so if these are your choices then the hotel premium may not be that significant.

Restaurants with a view are not easy in Buenos Aires.... perhaps some of the places that are close to the water on Puerto Madero, but the view will not be amazing.

we also want to spend a couple of days on the beach. does it make sense to spend 2 days on the beach and 6 in Bs As?

sounds like mar del plata is the place to go to for that, right? any recommended places to stay there for one or two nights?

also, once i land in Bs As can i exchange currency at the airport before i get a taxi? considering i will use credit cards in restaurants and use ATMs to get local currency, how much cash should i bring with me? $500? $1,000?

and lastly, throwing away the "view" requirement -- what are some of the upscale and romantic restaurants i can take my gf to on her birthday? also thinking of taking her to see a show (tango?)

Actually for a beach visit I would recommend Pinamar or Miramar, here is a link http://www.welcomeargentina.com/pinamar/index_i.html for me it is much more pleasant than Mar del Plata. But at the time of year for your visit there will not be much going on since it is very early in the season.

At the airport AVOID the exchange booth at baggage claim, nothing more than thieves. Once you enter the arrivals hall there will be ATM's and the Banco de la Nación Argentina (which has very long hours of operation). As for cash, really depends if you plan to do heavy shopping stores such as Lacroix and Dior offer a premium on the exchange rate if you pay cash in dollars. If not then $500 should do you just fine.

Yes, Banco Nacion will be open on Saturday.

Please note that Im cautious about Casa Cruz. Ive been there enough times to know that while you can have a good meal there, they are known to be inconsistent. Also, prices are highway robbery for EZE standards.... but, yes, it is a trendy place and there is a lot of people watching going on, if you reserve a table the right day of the week and at the right time.
