Any update on the soccer schedule? Still cannot locate any information on the internet.
|
The Apertura 2007 Tournament begins August 3rd and ends December 9th. Please note that each tournament leg may be played over different days. As an example, the 1st set of matches starts on August 3rd, but features games on August 4th and 5th. This is done so as to maximize the TV ratings & earnings for the Argentine Soccer Association and the Clubs... its a little like in the USA with Monday night Football.
For details on the schedule please see (sorry, Spanish only) - scroll down to seach each leg of the tournament and the respective game dates. http://www.26noticias.com.ar/se-ofic...007-43977.html |
Hello again Gaucho100K,
In about 6 weeks, MrsXS and I will have about a 5 hour layover at EZE on our way to Santiago for a ski week at Portillo. (It's a UA to AC connection for AC's continuation from EZE-SCL.) I'm wondering if it's worth it to leave the airport and come into the city for just a couple of hours. We had a great visit there last November, including having the pleasure of meeting you at your establishment, but I can't quite put my finger on what one thing we could do for a couple of hours that would make it worth the time. Any suggestions? (I know - come over and buy some wine! :)) We're supposed to arrive at 9:20am and depart at 4:35 pm. Especially if we have to go groundside and re-check, I'm wondering if it's viable to come in. But it's just long enough to be tempting. How bad is the traffic in those timeframes? (It's a Wednesday in August.) |
Hi Mark-- provided you arrive on time, I think you will have ample time to jump into a car and come into town for a stroll around the city and have a nice lunch. It may be best for you to choose an area of town like Puerto Madero, so you can first walk around the Plaza de Mayo and surrounding areas and then have lunch.... or if you already know that area then maybe something around Palermo Soho...? Nice cafes, shops and plenty of places to eat. I assume you will be leaving all your bags at EZE or even have them checked through.... so the only thing I would do is once you sit down for lunch, have the place call in advance and book a radio taxi to have waiting for you at a given time, so once you are out of the restaurant you have a car waiting to take you back to EZE.
I assume you will already have your boarding passes for your next leg, so the only thing you may need to do is pay the airport tax and you can go straight to boarding... maybe its best to pay the departure airport tax in EZE before you head out to town, that way you can then go straight to the gates once you return after lunch. |

Isn't there still a UA flight that goes from EZE - MVD?
Maybe it's a seasonal flight. I flew from EZE - MVD for $83, roundtrip, this past summer (Jan '07). |
Best Business Class MIA to EZE direct?
I am looking to buy a business class ticket from MIA to EZE. It appears that three airlines have direct flights: LAN, American Airlines and Aerolineas. Does anyone have an opinion about which of the three is the best business class for their direct flights to EZE?
Also, does anyone have an opinion on whether the business class is worth it on these 3 direct flights to EZE? |
gospeedracer35, WELCOME to FT!
I would have to say LAN Chile has the best Business Class, MIA - EZE. If you get one of their new 767s, you'll be in heaven! |

Miami to Buenos Aires Business Class
Thank you for the replies.
I have an American Airlines frequent flier account but I don't have so many miles that it would sway my choice of carrier for this trip. I would like to get a good rest on the overnight flight down so that I don't lose a day recovering in Buenos Aires. I have only a few days there and it would be costly to be dozing in my hotel room. I have heard good things about LAN but I am still not sure whether the direct flight on LAN down to EZE is better or the direct flight on AA is better. It seems that the answer largely depends on whether the LAN direct flight has the New Premium Business Class that the carrier has been touting. Unfortunately, my two calls to LAN could not provide any clarification. Some of the reports like the one rrgg provided indicate the answer is no. If anyone has ridden in the new premium business class on LAN to EZE, I would love to hear what route you took. Thanks. |

Coach is awful. you say you dont have many AA miles but do you have enough to upgrade with copay..(350) still cheaper than purchasing business. TO make matters slightly more complicated. AA's flts from MIA are on 777. that is 3 class service. First/Business/Coach Business is not as good as it is on 2 class 763's from JFK and DFW and 763's have new seats. 777's don't. the 777's have the old seats. |

Therefore, this time we have decided to try the daytime service form MIA to South America offered by Copa. We understand that the configuration is not much different from CO domestic first class, but the seats are very easy to get with OnePass miles as awards or upgrades and a kicker is that the elite free upgrades are available the same as on domestic CO flights. The only other kicker is that there is a change in PTY, but all have told us that this is completely painless. There are a few reports on this service, especially one from Canarsie (I believe in this thread) that have given it very good grades (and talk about arriving fresh). |

That puts AA in the same boat as LH and AF who have decided MIA is their last US destination to receive new or updated equipment.

When booking an upgrade a few months ago from MIA - SCL, the res agent said to me, "Good idea - MIA between 9 - 11 pm is like a zoo without cages with everyone packed into the waiting area."
The upgrade was nice, but I will definitely try to fly via DFW the next time. |
