I guess, you are talking about this:

The Great Final
This Wednesday Boca and Estudiantes will fight for the tournament title in a tie-breaker for the first time since the short tournaments are being played. Kickoff will be at 5.00 pm (TV) in the Vlez stadium.
Where is the Velez stadium?
Thanks

Have you started drinking yet?

I was very happy that Fox Soccer Channel managed to get the game in the last minute.

Re: the Velez stadium. It was used in the 1978 World Cup together with Monumental. It also appears to be a popular venue for concerts in BA. When I was there recently Shakira was performing there.

The number of large stadia in BA is truly impressive. The most mind boggling is Avellaneda where there two large stadia within about 100 meters of each other. But where is Indepediente going to play during the renovation? Playing at Racing's stadium is unfathomable to me. Especially given the songs that they were singing during the game. The Independiente stadium was in terrible condition. The scoreboard was non-functional with cracked plastic cover and a smattering of random yellow pixels. Typical American sports fans who focus on eating nachos, Big Gulps and hot dogs would not like that since they would have keep track of the score.

Speaking of Shakira, I was fascinated watching television coverage of her visit. It was almost non-stop on some channels. And then a meeting with the president! She's the next Bono!

Well, she shook hands with the president. And Argentina's first lady's no political slouch!

Shakira was -- don't know if it's still the case -- involved with the son of a now ex-President of Argentina. (There's a community of Colombian-Argentines as well, so that relationship would fit in perfectly. )

Gaucho, sorry to see Boca lose last night. It seems like every station had the highlights of the game on...and I'm only in Chile, not Argentina!!

What was the significance of the game? Boca supporters in the stands were crying like it was the Super Bowl, or something even more important.

Hope you're still drunk!

Estudiantes and Boca finished on equal points after the last round, so they had a single playoff game to decide the championship.

Obivously (?) Gaucho is a River fan, so I don't think he is very sorry.

So, do River fans despise Maradona (I despise him for a number of other reasons) or is he a national icon that goes beyond local rivalries? There were no shots of him in the crowd yesterday, but I enjoyed seeing him cry last Sunday.

Looks they are still involved...... De la Rua was ousted in December 2001, and I heard that Shakira was not too popular 4-5 years ago in Argentina?
