I read that there are eGates at EZE now. Are US passport holders allowed to use them? If so, can anyone share their experience using the eGates?

Arrival early in the morning at EZE had always been very fast for me, but last time the wait was over one hour. I am hoping this will improve things.

Outbound, si. Inbound, no.

For incoming visitors that have to use the manned Immigration desks, do you still get your stamp in your passport...? These seem harder and harder to find these days......

No stamps in nor out at the airports nor for the Buque.

I can confirm these work for foreigners over 18 on exit from Argentina at EZE - there are no listed specific nationality requirements (though, I have to imagine a chipped ePassport is required). The system is similar to Australia on entry where you have a kiosk to submit your passport, boarding pass, face, and fingerprint. Once approved, you will pass a facial recognition gate (that a guard had to reset for me as I believe it thought my carry-on was a second person). I believe the entry eGates are only for Argentinians.

I miss physical stamps. Im surprised no country seems to have come up with the idea of a new revenue stream by offering stamps for a fee.... I think that there are probably a decent enough number of people that would be willing to pay something "reasonable" for a physical stamp and fill passport pages.....

Japan is still affixing those little stickers upon entry (at least as of last month), so you could visit there to get your stamp fix.

I also miss them.

OT: San Marino do this. Given their geographical situation they aren't real entry stamps but for 5 � you can receive an official-looking stamp at the Tourism office.

You can still get an Stamp in Europe. When I arrived last month in Portugal, the eGates didn't work on my mom's passport (she have Arg passport, I have US passport), so went to the standard line to get manually checked, and we both got the (faded) Stamp. Same thing happened last year in Paris, so Stamp still possible in a couple of airport if you decided to do the regular line, but keep in mind that line may take an extra 30 to 60min.

Was just in BA two weeks ago. No e-gates on arrival. On departure, I could choose to go e-gates or regular. The regular line had a significant wait of maybe 20-30 mins. The e-gates were not very clear on who was eligible, but I tried it anyway. The computer could not read my (brand new...) US passport and I was diverted to a manned "red lane" counter that had zero wait. Even with the screwy computer and manual review, I was done in less than 5 mins.

I've had two fails on outbound e-gate readers, leading to an officer interaction of a minute or less. The arrival e-gates are functional for foreigners but we're generally not permitted their use.

I was at EZE yesterday to greet a (very) special client of mine and was at the aircraft gate (together with a dedicated AA2000 personal escort with us at all times). The conversation with the AA person was very interesting, from many things including the not completed new ATC tower, to new lounges, etc. He explained that the plan is to transition to 100% e-gate processing (both in & out) for all modern passports but that they are still working on glitches with the software and need to expand e lanes and buy new machines, create new websites for passengers to complete steps online prior to arrival, etc. etc.

Apparently the goal is to leave manual/human processing for less than 1% of all arrivals & departures by the second semester of 2027. Funnily enough, the AA2000 was more skeptical and I on meeting that deadline..... LOL
