Signing up for Cabify while in the US

Signing up for Cabify while in the US
In the past, signing up for Cabify while in the US wouldn't work because the confirmation SMS text would never arrive.
Today, on a whim since I have a trip to BA coming up I tried to sign up, and it worked. They sent the confirmation code to my US number via WhatsApp. Obviously it tells me there's no cab service available in my area, but I'll report back when I'm in Argentina in a couple of weeks.

FWIW I was able to sign up via WA (which is tied to my GV number, grandfathered in) back in Dec '22 here in the States, so that's been available for a while.

Interesting. That did not work for me at all in the past, as recently as August 2024 during my last trip there.

Huh. I went back to check and it turns out I was mistaken- I'd apparently signed up via Google Voice (not WhatsApp) after all:
