JFK-EZE AA award

I booked AA award travel a few days before the holidays for EZE to JFK spending 40k for Premium Ecomomy. I was impressed. Better than what I recall at that level. Much more than a simple extra room seat. Service was decent though still those overworked attendants.

Now the whole month of January and further is the same 40k miles to get a JFK-EZE Premium Economy. $5.xx is the cost to book. I just reserved after I had one on hold for a few days which was more flexible than 24hrs I was given to think in December.

That's the normal fare before the dynamic price kick in, you will find it close to the date and as long is not during December 15~23, which is very hard during that time. Returning after January to US will be way more expensive because is when everybody is going back home, at least until mid January. Keep in mind with AA, you can put those trip in hold for 5 days as long the flight is more than 2 weeks ahead, otherwise will be just a hold for 24hs.

I did the opposite. On Dec-15 I was searching for EZE to JFK between the December 18th-23rd, and that award was available for most days direct to JFK. Recently I searched for JFK-EZE. Almost everyday was available at that low award rate direct to EZE. I finally booked for a date in late January.

That was my experience. Thanks for clarifying that is normal. I was not sure.
