AEP to EZE transfer

I'm landing into AEP at 10:00 (domestic flight) and I will need to collect luggage.

I'm due to depart at 14:00 at EZE. Does anyone have any experience on transfer times?

You should be fine, if on time. Plan on an hour drive. It will probably take 45 minutes. Your EZE departure experience will depend on your check in, because the security and exit formalities should be pretty quick at noon-ish.

You should be okay jumping in a taxi....Eastbay1K transfer time is about right. I trust you have both flights on the same ticket? If not then you're a braver man than me.

The OP only has four hours between arriving at AEP and departing at EZE yet you say you had several hours less?

I suspect you either misread the post or you're a Kirchner.

Playing with fire, even without more details. Anyone who has planned this is being unwise, and in the case of a travel agent extremely negligent. Why, oh, why, when then is so much credible comments on the travel forums that this is problematic? Can you make it...yes if you are lucky. Is it risky....yes, extremely

I need to do this transfer myself in October--separate tickets--and would love advice. I'm arriving EZE at 6:02 AM on an AA flight from MIA, transferring to AEP for a LAN flight to USH. I can fly from AEP at either 11:15 AM or 3:35 PM. This is all happening on a Thursday, if that matters. Will I be OK with the earlier departure?

If you arrive on time then you should normally be OK for your 1115AM flight. Of course, since you are on vacation I would also consider taking it with more pause and taking the 1535PM flight and stopping by Costanera Norte for a nice lunch.... Happening is a very good restaurant and its only a 3 minute Taxi ride from AEP.

Thanks. I'll be hauling around a bag, and my Spanish is pretty sketchy, so not sure if I want to mess with trying to make any stops between one airport and the other. In any case, I have time to spend in BsAs on the other end of this trip. I'll be scouring the EZE thread for ideas on the two days I'll be there in November.

Take the later one. What happens if there's a mechanical problem on your AA plane, or a weather delay in Miami, or who knows what else, and your flight is delayed two hours? Then you have three hours to get off the plane, go through immigration/customs, travel from the middle of nowhere to downtown BA, go through security at AEP, and get to your gate. If there's bad traffic, or a big line at passport control, you're screwed.

Take the later flight from AEP. If everything goes smoothly, you'll have a few hours in the city to get a relaxing lunch and maybe do something fun. If things go wonky, then you'll at least have a time cushion so you don't miss the onward connection.

Between now and October, the odds of schedule changes are quite high. Your "possibly ok" connection could turn into something impossible, with no recourse. If you end up with a lot of time, consider a nicer hotel lunch with a bellman that can guard your luggage, as that appears to be an issue.

Now that is a good thing to recall. AA has monkeyed around with schedules in a major way over the last year--I've had many flight times changed (although not dramatically). I think I will go for the later AEP-USH flight just to be safe. Who knows, if I arrive at AEP wildly early, maybe LAN will let me jump on the earlier flight. I'm traveling on DL miles though, so I will keep my expectations very low.

What should I expect to pay for the taxi between the two airports? Do I need to hit an ATM for pesos, or will USD be accepted? (Sorry for the dumb question on currency but I haven't been to Argentina since 1997 and I don't know what they're doing as far as money these days.)

You can pay for a car service with a CC @ EZE. If you stop in the city, you'll need AR$ to get to AEP. Today's fare will not be the October fare. I believe it runs about AR$500 now.

If you are staying @ USH, you might as well get some currency @ EZE before you leave the airport.

Are you sure you have a LAN flight and not AR with DL miles? AR is the SkyTeam partner.

ADDED: It could be GOL but I don't think they operate domestic flights in Argentina.

Was thinking the same.

I have found it impossible to get USH award flights on LAN using Avios.

It probably is AR, sorry. I don't often use DL miles (and I haven't bought the tickets yet) so I'm sure I got that wrong. I've been in a bit of a frenzy trying to get all this stuff sorted out--I'm traveling to Antarctica and the whole thing has come together in a very short space of time.

I did try doing the AEP-USH portion with Avios and got nowhere. Too bad, because I have boatloads of Avios (including the pile that I just spent to book the PHL-MIA-EZE segments).

Thanks for the info on paying the taxi with a CC, Eastbay1K.
