Question Connecting at EZE for MVD possible? Any pointers on getting out of USH?

I come to ask those wise in the way of South American air travel which itinerary I should use on 16 October. Yes, I know about the projected AEP closure, and my goal is to avoid it whether or not it happens. (Quantum entanglement being what it is, perhaps it will do both!)

1. UA 861 from BOS dep 19:20 arv 21:08 [no problem here, I hope, but tight]
UA 847 from IAD dep 22:02 arv 09:40 on 17 October
-> AA 943 from EZE dep 11:10 arv MVD 13:05

I hope to have one checked bag.

Advantages: possibility of using up SWUs; as a UA 1K (still) I know I can carry on baggage containing enough gear to get me through next month if checked bag is lost
Disadvantages: At EZE, I do not know whether Argentina will make me clear customs and immigration to transit. I find conflicting information.

2. AA 1617 from BOS dep 17:30 arv 21:00
AA 943 from MIA dep 23:20 arv 08:05
AA 943 from EZE dep 11:10 arv MVD 13:05

Advantages: One seat ride, in effect; no connection.
Disadvantages: No status, no upgrade, Row 33, kill me now.

I have no status on AA and don't know what to expect WRT e.g. cabin baggage. With UA I know I can carry on a small knapsack and my usual carry-on bag with cameras, electronics, and other pricy stuff as well as enough clothes to get me through a worst case. I will make a scene rather than check cameras etc.

I've also been offered an itinerary arriving at EZE and transferring myself to AEP to connect to an Aerolineas Argentinas flight to MVD, but if I do that I know I'll have to pass immigration and customs. Nothing against that, but it seems like a waste of everyone's time.

3. Minor issue, but if anyone has "avoid" advice on LAN 4438 from USH to AEP, let me know, please! It connects in El Calafate. I can take that on 11/23 after a night in USH or I can gamble that my ship will get in and clear in time for me to get to a direct USH-AEP flight the previous day. Assuming AEP is still there. (If not, the gods will provide, I am sure.)

I havent taken an international flight for approx. 18 months now, but it is my experience that if you fly into EZE and have a connection to MVD, you are not requested to clear immigration.... you get summoned into a separate area inside the sterline terminal section and await your connecting flight.
