Will my points post?
I was only 60 points shy of reaching the award I wanted. So, I took a one-way Amtrak journey from Rockville, MD to Washington, DC.
I bought the ticket online and had the ticket issued at the kiosk in the Rockville station. After boarding the train, nobody collected my ticket! It was a very short ride so it is possible I was overlooked.
Will I get credit for the trip? Has this every happened to anyone else?

Yep, you essentially rode for free. In order for points to post, your ticket needs to be collected; you'll probably need to ride again and make sure the conductor takes your ticket. That's the bad news. The good news is that the value of your ticket can still be used to pay for another trip.

Yes, first I'd try to submit your missing trip request online with the ticket number/call AGR with the ticket number. Since your ticket wasn't collected, there is no way it will post automatically. I'd leave out that detail that the ticket wasn't collected.
rafster is right in that you could exchange your ticket for a new ticket--but I'd only do that if I couldn't get AGR to post the trip. You bought a ticket and you did ride the train, so you have a right to claim the points. Seeing as you bought this ticket just for a point run, I don't think a refund and repurchase is really what you're looking for.

No, because they check your ticket number in their revenue management system to ensure you rode that segment. If they didn't collect the ticket, it won't show as being used, and so you won't get the points.

Sometimes even collected tickets get lost or are never scanned. AGR has the ability to post a trip based on a ticket number, even if it doesn't show as being used.

UPDATE: Points finally posted today but I did need to call Amtrak Guest Rewards to make it happen. I tried to request missing points with their online form twice with no success before I fianlly gave up and called.
The rep listened to my explanation and posted the points instantly.
