two quick questions on comp upgrades

two quick questions on comp upgrades
This is my first go-round being Select. Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere but I have two questions please about Select upgrades:
1) Can I upgrade on a saver fare or does it have to be on the flex one (I THINK that's the name of the non-saver fare?)
2) If the upgrade clears will I earn points based on the original service or on the upgrades service? (IE if I go from Acela Biz Class to FC, will I earn Biz Class points or FC points?)

You will earn points based on your original booking class.
BTW, if you select one of the coupons in your account, the rules are pretty clearly stated.
For example, the 10% off coupons are really only of value for last minute bookings, since they can only be used on full adult fares (these coupons I rarely ever use).
