I'm annoyed by this change, but I've already had instances in the past where the lounge guards insisted on a United/Star Alliance boarding pass. San Diego lounge was pretty rude about it early this year, but I didn't budge and eventually got in. I guess this will solve the issue for any of the poorly trained staff members.
