This is a weekend plan, not valid between Mondays and Fridays.
Advance ticket purchase is required, and is available on line.
All members of the party are eligible to receive AGR points.
As this service only offers 2nd class seating, there is no upgrade to 1st class.

Slight clarification to the previous post:
The deal is valid on Tuesday-Thursday as well as Saturday and Sunday. It is not valid on Mondays OR Fridays. It is also not valid on Train #542 anytime.
1 Day Advance purchase is required. Unreserved Coach is the only class available on the Capitol Corridor Route. It does include selected Thruway service to San Francisco and the Sierra Foothills (as far east as Colfax) as well.
A great deal if you get a group together and travel some distance on the route!

I'm wondering how this provision is enforced given that the Capitols are entirely unreserved. Would there be a non-validity error that pops up when the conductor scans the ticket? Prior to e-ticketing, train or time restrictions would be printed in bold on the center of the ticket. I'm not looking to help myself or others circumvent the rules, just curious how it works now.
