Interesting - I couldn't find this offer directly through the AmEx Network website.

Thanks OP. Where did you see that offer starts on 11/18/2008? I did not see it when I was signing up.

Directly above the fields to enter CC number:

You will be charged in full at the point-of-sale and your savings will automatically be credited to your statement within 5 days after you spend $40 or more 2 times from November 18 through December 18, 2008.

I called Am Ex and it's ok, although my Gold card isn't eligible. It's only for the co-branded AE cards.

I got nervous when I couldn't find the offer on the site and anytime someone asks you for all info on your card, I get a little jumpy. Christmas time = phishing time.

Enjoy your credit.

It is a scam, by AMEX. As per other threads, once you include WalMart in places that you shop, they compare you to the other shoppers of WalMart and declare you a credit risk and cut your limit.

So they want to give people an incentive to shop somewhere they don't want people to shop at?

Then they can cut peoples credit lines and tell them, thanks for using your AMEX card, thanks for your business, but bad cardmember, you are shopping at the wrong businesses? Doubt it.

Of course Wal-Mart would be a willing participant in the discussion "We want to run a promotion with you to cut off credit to those who shop in your stores. Thanks for accepting American Express" . . .
