Ritz Tysons Corner VA frequently has rates in the 200s, even 100s on occasion. Weirdly enough it doesn’t show up when you search in VA though only DC. $100 property & $60 breakfast credit if 2 guests, I nearly broke even on my last stay.

DC actually has quite a few options sub $350 regularly: Watergate, Conrad, Park Hyatt, St. Regis.

Sometimes on slower days even the Mandarin Oriental & DC Ritz

Over the past 3 years, I have stayed at all of these at < $350/night (except for Mayakoba). I'd stay at all of these again (and hope to soon)/

Mexico
  • Four Seasons Mexico City. Fantastic hotel and our trip overlapped with fashion week, which we were able to watch an event from our window with our upgraded room to top floor in the interior courtyard.
  • Rosewood Puebla - this hotel is no longer a Rosewood (and not sure if it is still in FHR?), but we had booked it for <$190/night. We were upgraded to a suite.
  • Banyan Tree Mayakoba - we were upgraded to a larger suite with a large living room, this was about $435/night - which now is $1,000+/night
United States
  • London west Hollywood - this is one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed and the largest hotel bathroom we've ever had
  • Encore x2 - both times booked cheapest room and received upgrades to Panoramic Rooms at Encore. We did enjoy the free breakfast everyday and my wife enjoyed the spa treatment credit
  • Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas - now the Waldorf, we had stayed just before the transition to Waldorf. We were upgraded about 20+ floors and upgraded from non-strip to strip view.
  • Seattle Fairmont - classic hotel. We had to ask to move our room due to elevator noise and we ended up with a top floor corner suite that hadn't been renovated, but was still very cool.
Spain
  • Gran Hotel Malaga - great hotel - we were upgraded to a quiet interior courtyard view. The room was probably the best value for the luxury we had ever saved

Should we revive this thread given the new Amex calendar year credit?

Though, the new credit applies for THC as well which is a lot cheaper

I think one on FHR and THC would be great!

But THC requires 2 nights while FHR can be just 1.

The Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria New Orleans has reasonable rates between $250-$400.

https://www.therooseveltneworleans.com/

When I checked my date of interest, Hilton's direct rate was $247.00. FHR was $297.00 with a $100.00 credit for their giftshop, breakfast for 2, and guaranteed 4:00 PM checkout.

I see $350 nights at Intercontinental Tel Aviv in September, which actually works out pretty well for a one-night stay I need.

The $100 property credit is for food and beverage, so essentially turns it into a breakfast & dinner (and a few drinks) package.

I'm surprised more people aren't interested in this given the $200 credit.

I've been browsing the site (it's super laggy) and here are some sub-$350 options I've found for weekends in the next 2 months:

(FHR) Denver - Art Hotel $239 (assuming complementary 4th night)
(FHR) Boston - Encore $234 (assuming complementary 3rd night)
(THC) Chicago - Fairmont $299
(THC) Chicago - Royal Sonesta $261
(THC) Chicago - Palmer House $219
(THC) Miami - Mr C Coconut Grove $345
(THC) Miami - The Palms $349

Lowes and Intercontinental in Atlanta, both FHR, were in the $250 or less range some days over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks! I hadn't realized that distinction, and thought both had to be for 2 nights. Also looking for less expensive options, so I also vote for reviving this thread!

not sure this qualifies as a vacation destination, but the THC Hilton Canopy Charlotte NC can be had for about $150-160 a night through the amex travel website.
