MR USA: Hilton 50% Transfer Bonus thru 4/14/20

American Express is has temporarily bumped up the MR transfer rate to Hilton Honors, now 1000 MR: 3000 HH Points. This offer is valid thru 4/14/2020. Personally I don't see this as the best use of MR points, however it is one of the best Hilton bonuses I have seen from American Express MR.I don't know if this is offer is targeted, or if the bonus is offered on a sliding scale.

I have this as well. This is a good transfer bonus if you’re targeting high priced resorts. A $500 room can go for 80,000 points, or 320,000 for 5 nights including 4th night free. For 106,666 MR points you can get yourself a $2500 redemption, or 2.34cpp.

Also, in light of the virus and dwindling desire to fly, this is great timing for those that may still want to use points and extract decent value on a domestic vacation.

This is a decent offer, but Hilton regularly offers promotions at 100% bonus making them effectively .5c/p, so even if you can get outsized value at the lower or higher ends it limits the ceiling to 1.5 c/MR

I hear that argument a lot but I don’t buy it because you can only buy a total of 160,000 Hilton points (80k + 80k bonus) when the promotion comes around. That might be fine for 2 or 3 nights somewhere but if you want to stay a week at a resort you are 100,000s of points short.

Hilton allows you to pool points for free, so if you have at least one p2 (which I imagine if you’re going to a resort, but if not vacationing alone is fun too I do it often) it’s enough for 4 nights + 1 free at an 80k resort just though buying alone
