I made a similar mistake. I purchased the credit Nov 11th and have yet received the credit yet. funny thing, my meteor moved quite a few days ago.

Datapoint here:
11/16 Picked UA as "airline"...waited for an hour, got approved and got the email
11/16 Bought $100 travel bank credit
11/19 Meter changed from $250 to $150
However no money has been reimbursed yet from my card.

Then just now (literally 10 seconds ago) statement posted:
11/18 AMEX AIRLINE FEE REIMBURSEMENT

The first time I bought may have been too early I guess, might wait a couple weeks. Any ideas on whether it would work to chat with amex on the credit for the first purchase?

Welcome to Flyertalk! I think the members of this thread would take up a fund to pay you rather than hear that you called Amex. It’s best not to point things out to an agent that they may discover is an unallowable reimbursement. It’s standard operating procedure not to call the airlines or the credit card companies in cases like this. Happy to hear that your retry worked out for you I would just chalk up the first one to experience

PLEASE do NOT alert AMEX about this channel, they will close it. Then there will be almost no way to get airline reimbursement, as now UA also got rid of the ticket change fees. You didn't lose anything, you can still use the credit in the travel bank.

I'm pretty sure Amex reads everything on Flyertalk. Or maybe that was AA. If a company does petty things against their customers, you can bet they are reading everything they can online.

I may have made the same mistake as chongc here... Set UA as my airline on my benefits page and received the email confirming it. Bought $200 worth of travel bank funds same day very shortly after.

I will update in a few days whether or not it happens to work.

Thysk's DP has me hopeful at least!

Edit: 11/21 Charges posted, meter has yet to move, fingers crossed

Edit 2: 11/22 Meter moved, looks like we're in the clear!

11/19: $100 Travel bank purchase
11/21: charge posted

As of today, 11/22, I have not received the credit and the meter hasn't moved. When I select the charge it says it's a special service ticket and it gave me the 5x points so it appears like Amex thinks it's a ticket and I fear I'm out of luck for the credit. Anyone else have experience one way or the other seeing the charge appear like this?

Mine posted as a ticket purchase for 5X points as well. It shows up as a flight from Chicago O'Hare to...Chicago O'Hare... The name of the "ticket" is (My last name)/TRAVEL BANK CA and it gives a ticket number. Looks like we might me SOL.

or, you know, you could be a bit patient and wait a few business days - your charge posted over the weekend. wait until thursday before making assumptions
