AE personal platinum vs business platinum

Can someone provide the benefit and fee difference between platinum personal and platinum business? The AE website doesn't allow comparisons between personal and business cards. I am looking for all benefits, not just points.

Thanks a lot for your time.

Welcome to Flyertalk. American Express issues cards in many countries. If you are referring to the USA:

  • Annual fee is the same: $450.
  • Supplementary Business Platinum cards are more expensive: $300/yr/each vs Personal $175/yr/three.
  • Business card is based on personal credit, but account does not appear on personal credit reports (unless default)
  • Business Platinum does not offer Contactless payment option

All benefits are identical except:
  • Business offers 30% refund on Pay-with-Points airline tickets purchased from same domestic airline selected for Airline Fee Reimbursement. This makes the points worth $0.014+/each.
  • Business Platinum includes 10 GoGo WiFi sessions per year
  • Business cards participates in OPEN Savings

I am the OP but I just remembered my password from old/original account.

Thanks Mia, this is exactly what I needed. I thing the additional charge for me makes it an easy decision to go with the personal. I have avoided upgrading to platinum for 16 years from gold rewards because it is triple the $150 I am paying, not to mention I get free additional cards. But some of the benefits, like luggage and airline fees cover the gap.

Thanks again

Business Platinum is the best value is you need only one card. If you need additional cards it depends on the color:

Personal Platinum:
Supplementary Platinum - $175/year/3
Supplementary Gold - $45/year/5
Supplementary Green - Free (undocumented)

Business Platinum:
Supplementary Platinum - $300/year/each
Supplementary Gold - $45/year/each
Supplementary Green - Free

Supplementary cards earn points at the same rate as the parent Platinum card. Example: supplementary Gold cards are not Premier Rewards Gold cards.

The more I think about it, I should keep my personal gold (are we calling it PRG?)with free additional and all the point benefits and upgrade my bus gold where I don't need an additional card.

There are two current personal Gold cards. Does your card say Premier Rewards on the front? If you have had the same product for 16 years it is probably something different.
