Any reason to keep Delta Amex?

I have been pondering getting rid of my DL amex.
With the increase in the AF on the card renewal and other DL changes, I'm wondering if it makes any sense any more.

However, I still do fly DL with some frequency (4-5 times yearly). I have DL FO for 2014, but I'm not sure that I'm going to maintain for 2015. [Won't have enuf MQD].
I will probably continue to fly DL in 2015, even w/o status, as the flights are generally cheaper, and with ATL/DTW hubs, I prefer to avoid EWR/PHL.
I don't think that I will hit (or choose to) 25k spend this year on the DL Amex.

I'm afraid of being in the back of the bus..

I use points mostly for International travel, and Hotels.. SPG Gold (me), HH Diamond / Marriott Gold (fiancee)

In some ways, my DL amex strategy has been questionable for a couple of months now. I've previously put misc higher value purchases on there, and a small amount of MS. And DL tix.

Other cards:
CSP (Dining/Travel/ International)
Freedom (5% categories)
SPG Amex (SPG, was Groceries, everyday household)
Plat Amex (Just for statuses, fiancee's card)
Amazon Visa (amazon) - Will replace with grocery Amazon GC spend

I'm thinking of getting rid of the DL Amex, and getting Everyday Preferred.
Anything that I'm missing?

If you cancel your Delta AMEX, you probably won't be able to get it again under AMEX's new rules; so think carefully before you act.

You can still get it, just don't expect a sign-up bonus.

Wow - AMEX increased the AF on DL Plat card to $195. Quiet a hefty increase.

I may still find it useful as I can get free checked bag for the entire family and find the $0 companion cert quite useful. The DL Gold card doesn't come with a companion cert anymore . However with a $95 fees, it might still be useful for free bags if someone doesn't have status.

Just grab a DL Amex Business if you need the card again

Amex has several cards the can move miles to Delta if needed, cancel the card...my present Amex card is for AA..

Credit card sign up are better than a renewal bill any day.

Canceling my Platinum Delta Amex

I have been a cardholder of the Platinum Delta Amex since 2009, and with all the changes I'm done with this card and Delta. Since I normally fly on low fares (whether with my company or on my own), all of the changes in the Skymiles program really kill Delta for me now--and therefore the credit card. Even though I stopped doing tons of business with Delta months ago (and started moving to American or metal agnostic), I was considering keeping the Amex Delta card until the mile per dollar scheme was announced for 2015. I have recently dropped from PM to FO as well.

I just don't see the benefit of keeping any of the Delta cards for anyone except for those trying to top up MQMs (on the Platinum or Reserve) and those who check bags frequently on domestic routes but won't make FO (Gold Card). If you want Delta lounge access, it seems like the Amex Platinum with the $200 airline credit is a better deal.

Am I missing something for non high-spend travelers? What's the point in earning miles on a Delta credit card when you can't compliment those earnings as easily/quickly by flying Delta's metal anymore?

I am in the exact same position as the OP; I have the card, and the only real benefit I see is Zone 1 boarding...that seems like a heavy cost for the casual flyer.

MQM boost and companion cert make this card worthwhile even with the AF increase.

Not if you've dumped DL.

Sure, but OP said he/she still flies DL a couple times a year. I actually know a few folks who fly United as their primary, but keep a DL plat around solely for their companion cert and the free checked bag when they use the cert. They see it as an automatic $150 (now $195) ticket.

I also don't have an WN-affiliated CC because I never fly WN.

This card makes it really easy to get suckered into flying DL

I cancelled it since I didn't want the MQM boost, and the other benefits aren't worth it at all....
