Used this link to sign up (and kept a screenshot just in case) called Membership rewards, got a friendly representative and confirmed my 50 k with the 1000 spending and then bumped up with the bonus id , all on one phone call. At least I'm guaranteed the 50k.

FWIW, I was told it's 8 weeks after I hit the spend. This will really cut it close because I want to get the DL bonus and I hit the spend in late July. I called about a week ago and a very nice CSR tried valiantly to post the 100k but said she tried and was unable; have to wait 6-8 weeks after hitting the spend.

But I say "FWIW", because I'm still waiting and haven't seen the points yet...

Ironically just after applying for the plat 100k I was targeted for the gold 75k.

For those of you told your accounts have been notated, prepare for some frustration. My timeline/datapoints:

May -- applied for the Amex card. Used a 50k link.

A few days later -- received the card and activated. Confirmed 50k was associated with my account. Did not ask to have it notated.

Late May -- met the spend. Began calling to try to get them to apply the 100k offer. Got shot down, but finally was persistent and was told 5748 is notated on my account. Was told to call back after my "25K" posted. I said it was supposed to be 50k, but we decided it didn't matter since I would be getting 100k.

Mid-July -- Called. Can I have my 100k now? No. Have to wait 8 weeks after the 25k posts, and if nothing posts, I can call in early August.

Last week -- Called. Nothing has posted. Can I have my 100k? After considerable, they finally agreed I was due 100k. However, they "couldn't find" 5748 and it "wouldn't open a new window," so could I please call back "tomorrow."

The next day -- Call back. Much more discussion. Finally, "ok, you're all set. But I need to have my "supervisor" apply your points. They will post in 24-48 hours, but wait to next week to call if they don't, just to be safe. Ok, I say. Can you please notate account.

This week -- still nothing. Call again. Yes, they see it's all notated, but they can't open 5748. Supervisor has to apply the points. "I'm sending an e-mail to my supervisor now, they should post in 24-48 hours. You're all set."

Still nothing.

Opened card with 25k offer on Friday. Called up early today, mentioned the code and got a "that promotion expired, sorry".

Called up tonight again and did not mention a code, but the rep put me on hold, came back and said she notated my account. Awesome.

A big thank you to the person who posted the 50K link. Not sure why some of you are having a hard time/being asked to wait 6-8weeks!


Got the card last week -->immediately spent 1K --> 25K points awarded on tuesday --> Just called to request the 100K bump --> 2 minutes later, my account has 100K miles.

FYI, my wife and I applied for Amex plats in July and got the account notated for the 100k bonus. Every time we've called they say only that it's "noted" but not that we can actually get the 100k; we need to call in 6-8 weeks after hitting the spend. But now, when I call MR, the automated message says we have zero MR points, and 75k pending. I don't know where 75k comes from -- it's "close but not quite" the 100k we are supposed to get -- but it's better than nothing I suppose! Now we just need to wait a few more weeks and then make sure the full 100k goes through...

Quick question for all - I've read in this thread that the Annual Fee is charged to the Plat Card almost right away (sometimes before activation). If this is true, does it count towards the $1k spend?
