Amex Platinum Lounges (Non-Airport)

Good evening everyone,

I recently noticed during a night at the Toronto Symphony that there is now an American Express Lounge (open to platinum and centurion) in Roy Thomson Hall. I'm wondering if people know of other Amex lounges, other than airport lounges.

Cheers,
J

There is a lounge available at Staples Center in Los Angeles on the premier level. Basically it is a paid bar, a nice place to see a game if you have nosebleed seats and want something better, but it is behind the basket (or goal) so it is not that great. The main benefit is that you can go to the premier level, which is more upscale, without a ticket to the area.

Decided it might be good to update this thread with new developments. Based on research I did, this is the current list for non-airport lounges.
- Staples Center - Premier Lounge (Los Angeles, CA)
- Universal Studios (Orlando, FL) [Have to buy tickets with Amex]

Lounges at Galleria in Houston and Short Hills in New Jersey were given to Chase not Amex.

Any others people know of?

Amex Platinum Lounges (Non-Airport)

So is there a listing of these lounges anywhere on Amex's site?

No, some of these benefits are marketed to cardholders in a specific country, but because Platinum Cards are very similar in appearance worldwide the lounge may accept others.

By no means a complete list but here's a news article that talks about some of these non-airport Amex lounges in Canada. Concerts/theater venues seem to be the theme.

Old news now but interesting nevertheless, Amex had a lounge overlooking the Olympic Park during the Olympics and Paralympics in the UK this summer. Free access to Centurion members +5 guests. This was not advertised, I only found out because I was working on the park and spotted the entrance.

Amex were not a sponsor of the games so there was no branding allowed. Would have been nice to have been told though.

Got to use it one day and it was very nice, free drinks and snacks.

Note that the Maestro's Lounge at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto will no longer admit Platinum cardholders as of January 13th, 2014. Such a pity! I've enjoyed this benefit tremendously over the past couple of years. Amex has now opened their own little room that will not have the coat check, host bar, or private restrooms that the Maestro's Club allowed.
Shame that Amex is dropping benefits so soon after increasing the fees on the Canadian Plat by $300!!! :-\
