Does anyone know if the Toronto airport YYZ only has an Admiral's Club? Or is there a flagship lounge there, too? I highly doubt it. If that is the case, does anyone know if BA's Lounge is nicer than the AC in Toronto?

YYZ / Toronto Admirals Club vs BA Lounge?

Are you asking here because you don't trust the information on AA.com? If so, I can confirm what it says there, that there is no Flagship Lounge in YYZ.

I'm more asking because I'd rather get people's opinion of the AA lounge vs the BA lounge. If that helps clarify my post.

Thumper Jun 3, 2009 6:56 am

When I have been there, the AC has not been crowded.

It is small, and as "modern" as the rest of the airport.

asl Jun 3, 2009 7:08 am

Comparison is moot. If you are traveling to the United States, your only choice in the Admirals Club. If you are not traveling to the United States, you cannot get to the Admirals Club.
The airport is segregated US/other departures.

I'm hard pressed to find a single instance where the BA lounge isn't miles ahead better than AA's (starting from LHR).

Thanks. That does clarify things. The part where you asked about the existence of a lounge seemed like you were asking about the existence of a lounge, and the obvious link that gemac post would have worked. I guess we both misunderstood.

Cheers.

FWIW, I've been in the YYZ AC 3 or 4 times, and although small, it's nice enough, and the AAngels were great, as was the bartender.

JDiver Jun 3, 2009 9:42 am

The thread title has been changed to reflect the information actually being requested by the OP. :)

Oh, I'm definitely going to take as much advantage of the BA lounge at T5 @ LHR. Don't get me wrong there :P

But, it sounds like from what asl has said I'll be in the AC at YYZ regardless... :td: I really liked the BA lounge on the way out last week.

Is there at least wireless internet provided? That's the one thing that I really want to keep me entertained for 4 hours :)

DFW.

Amen to that. DFW D AC is quite a bit better than the BA club. Frankly, though, that's about the only case I can think of where the AC beats a BA lounge. The AC at CDG is quite nice, but I've not been to any BA lounges there to compare.

Cheers.

As posted, the AC is the only OW lounge for US departures (BA will only be accessed if you are departing overseas). As soon as you clear Security, turn right past the newsstand and the AC will be the first little door fiive or six yards on the left.

As others said, the lounge is small, but nicely laid out and seldom busy. Bar/cafe area at the back right, small business center of 4 or 5 stations on the left, lounge area in good repair and comfortable.

There is free wireless, but not the T-Mobile system used Stateside, and the desk will give you the access code.

The staff are great, Laura is a true AAngel especially willing to work hard during IRROPS. The bartender unwraps and heats the sandwiches and brings it all to you. All attentive to your needs. They generally announce boarding of all flights, which is nice.

I renewed my membership there this year and they seemed very appreciative as there is some question of this location being in the line of fire for cuts. Hope it hangs in there!

ESpen36 Jun 3, 2009 11:21 am

The Admirals Club at YYZ is quite nice. The AAngels are superb! Be sure to ask for Ralph--one of AA's best! He is incredibly proactive about helping members given the daily delays on many of the YYZ routes, such as BOS/NYC/ORD.

Short hair Francis Jun 3, 2009 1:24 pm

Same as what said before, YYZ admiral clubs is quite good for the bad terminal they are in, they aren't much selection of food in the US side to choose from and if you go on the moving walkway, it's feel like a sponge literally. The staff even heated my soup and put my salad on real china last month at 8 am! As Espen36, Ralph is one of the best AAngels out there though he tends to be there only in the afternoon. Leela is also quite good too. There is also 2 PCs in the back as well. That being said, I won't leave a lot of time there because there isn't much to do there except I'm always there for like 3 hrs nevertheless. Which one is Laura again?

aSWUplz Jun 3, 2009 3:21 pm

YYZ AAngels are quite liberal with the drinks chits / coupons too :D

Doghound Jun 4, 2009 2:17 pm

First time here... and I really like Ralph. He let me rant about my fairly sub-par experience on BA J I just landed off of and he actually engaged in the conversation. Was nice after being treated as if I wasn't actually present for 7 hours LHR-YYZ on BA :(
This visit to the AC is definitely lifting the spirits :D

Edit: Ralph just came around to make sure I was able to get onto the internet alright. I am officially placing this AC above the ORD FL, imo.

Example: they gave me one when I came in. Then I askedfor another and the AAngel gave me another and said, "in fact, come back and we'll give you on more". With a huge grin on her face. So, ended up with 3 drink certs. Quite nice treatment :)

You were on an International flight. They're supposed to give you as many as you want. That's not generosity; that's policy.

Cheers.

They give out only one or two at a time ... but as stated you can always go back for more.

Doghound, please consider writing to [email protected] with your comments about Ralph. He is a superb Premium Services employee who deserves to have your feedback sent to his supervisor and put into his file.

On several occasions, Ralph has gone out of his way to help me get home, and I am incredibly grateful! Once, he actively monitored wheels-up times on the NYC-bound aircraft as I stood in the departure lounge and called me on my cell phone moments before boarding to tell me that the aircraft had just been given a later wheels-up time and that I should head over to a different gate.

Another time, I landed at YYZ to find that Ralph had left me a voicemail letting me know that my connecting flight to DFW had been canceled. He had already rebooked me through MIA down to SCL, all segments upgraded, reissue completed! Talk about incredible customer service!

Actually, I am surprised chits are given at all -- Canada to/from US is *NOT* international, and AA does not serve any true international routes from YYZ. Canada is considered Domestic for purposes of FL access for example, so why would chits at an AC (which exist in the first place to compensate when there is no FL) be given?

YYZ is probably closest thing I have to a 'home' club, and have never been given (never needed or asked, mind you) a chit.

Good ... no, excellent.... no, Brilliant point. The OP's OP did not mention he was arriving BA J, and I missed the post on page 2. My bad. My very bad. :o I will say three Hail Marys and drink JW Red instead of HP18 this weekend.

Wow, that's some amazing service, Espen!! Yeah, I'll definitely have to write to AA about him. I forgot to mention that he had remembered my name when he came around to check on me. I was overwhelmed with happiness :)

YYZ Admirals Club kid yelling and running around

since the mother and father don't care and they tend to join the kid to the yelling mode and playing around, who's suppose to say anything to this family?

admirals club staff? the same employee that told me to remind her about pre-boarding because she tend to forget things?

or the AC etiquette allows this to take place?

I saw something about kids and etiquette before but I can't find it sorry if this post is duplicate with another thread.

-Internet Not working (again). been told to use airport internet.
-10 bucks for a sandwich.

I hate this AC.

You always have the option to:
1. Ask the parents to control the child.
2. Go sit in the terminal.

MiamiAirport Formerly NY George May 2, 2011 12:50 pm

I was in the MIA AC (D30) a couple months back and was waiting near the front desk for a shower to open up. There were these two little juvenile deliquents running all over the place screaming and yelling. One of the AC Angels asked the children their parents names. She then pages the parents to the front desk and advises them that if they cannot control their children properly they will asked to leave the AC immediately.^

I thought about it. But then I realized that there are those out there that would see the AC Angel is being "rude" and "uncaring" towards families. I just instead smiled at her and todded my head in thanks.

didn't ask the AC staff, It makes me uncomfortable and I guess is their work to monitor and control this nuisance?, as the lounge is very small and she could hear the kid from where she was.

what about this would make you uncomfortable ? Simply find an AC staffer or manager, explain the situation and ask them to handle it. No confrontation. No snitching on the obnoxious family as far as they know.

If you're that afraid of handling business, how do you get any actual work done ?

gemac May 2, 2011 10:33 pm

I would ask the AC staffer if they wanted to handle the situation or would they prefer that I handle it. :D

JumboD May 2, 2011 10:51 pm

My procedure would be as follows:

1. Ask the AC staff to have a word with the parents.

2. If they won't, have a word with the parents myself.

3. If they do nothing, teach the kids a few "grown up" words that will make them sound cool.
