Top level status match help

Hello everyone,

I have a family member who is Air France Platinum for life (ten consecutive years of platinum). He would like to transfer to AA but he wants to start off in executive platinum. Is there a way they'll match his for life status with exec plat.? If not how can he get it?

Thanks and Merry Christmas,

-P

No. Generally AA does not status match. [Why would they?]
They do offer a plat challenge for a fee. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...-platinum.html

Generally not, but there are documented instances where American has matched highest status (more United than others). So before signing up for a Challenge, it's good to contact AA to ask.

Another option might be to call US. The AA and US frequent flyer programmes will merge in the second quarter of 2015, so it'll be the combined AAdvantage programme then.

I'm fairly certain that there is no EXP status match, but the Platinum challenge may be the best way to go.

Welcome to FlyerTalk… since your query specifically pertains to AA's program, your post has been moved to the dedicated American Airlines forum for further advice and feedback.

Thanks.

Why does your family member want AA status? unless you live in the United States, AAdvantage status overseas is kinda useless since there are easier ways to get oneworld elite perks.

AA will not match to Executive Platnium. You might get an Executive Platnium challenge in which you have to accure 25,000 points in 3 months, but they generally only do these to high-revenue potential passengers (i.e. lots of paid first/business tickets)

Which airlines would match his status to their top status (oneworld)?

None that I'm aware of, personally in OneWorld. Maybe try this site: http://statusmatcher.com/#Airlines%20A

Quite possibly none - AF platinum qualification requirements are pretty low. In any case if you're looking for top status best to have it on an airline you are flying regularly, or possibly in a very rewarding program (that will likely not give it away). Shopping for whoever will give away their best is more likely to end up in a mediocre program than anything else.

Why does he want top tier status?

Air France Platinum requires 60 to 70K/miles annually or 60 flights, that's well below requirements for EXP status so I would be quite surprised if AA offered a direct match.

Trial Preferred is still alive and well--for those who have achieved a, "Special Dividend," to give it away
