Called Citi Wednesday night and inquired about the new "Centennial Executive Card". The agent put me on hold for about five minutes while she checked with someone else. When she came back on the line, she told me that I would get the new card in about one to two business days. FedEx delivered it this morning. It is, in fact, the new card with the Centennial logo. It's pretty cool!

Same.

Not only did I not get the Centennial version, but I received the new lighter colored card.

I am not sure why they would give the new Globe card the all black treatment and make Executive dark gray. That is dumb. I'll guess I will ride out my original Executive card, non-centennial version, until it expires. #leastsubstantive

I do like the look of this new card but I'll wait a month or so before calling to request a replacement due to an unfortunate event.

I can top this.

Mine was my daily use card despite being hacked three times since I had first obtained the card in the 1990's.

However, about six years ago I had the fourth hack. When I reported about $400 worth of charges to Citibank when I received my statement in the mail, they denied the false charges because "I took too long to report them".

I have never used the card again.

Received my reissued card. NOT the new design. Citi really seems to have issues knowing their product offerings and how to order them!

Here's the card I received yesterday with the centennial logo!

I like it I guess, it has some marginal novelty. Could have been a little more spruced up with maybe some historical plane images from AA years of past?

But this card literally is a sock drawer card for me - I don't physically carry it, save a few times where I think I *might* need to prove AA lounge or Partner lounge access.
With being the primary account holder, the lounge access is tied to my FFN.... covers like 99.3% of my needs.
I used to travel with it more when the AVIS benefit was more agreeable, and I would play car rental roulette upon arrival between whoever had the best deals with that $120 credit in mind.

But now? Meh. I don't see it making a return to my wallet due to what is essentially a colored sticker.

Could have been a pretty cool marketing home run for AA on their "premier CC offering" .... but they hit a rather mundane single down the baseline.

I think it looks nicer here than the promo pictures!

Any info on the Platinum Select card?

Given that both the AA press release and now the Citi website show the Centennial branding not only on the Exec Card (topic of this thread) but also the Platinum Slect Card, I'm wondering if anyone has been successful in receiving the Centennial version of the Platinum Select card?

Oddly, the Globe (and Business card) do not show the Centennial version.

I have a pending application for the Platinum Select card since 12/31; if Citi ever actually approves me I'll report back.

I'm seeing the Globe card centennial design on creditcards.aa.com but indeed not on Citi's site.

Finally received mine in the mail today. Received the old design. Futile exercise.

I might give a few weeks before trying again :D

Requested my replacement for a damaged card online last week it should arrive shortly and I will report back.

This is “the new American Airlines” [post 12/9/2013] and Citigroup we are talking about not DL and American Express both of whom independently are highly effective marketers and brand stewards that have collaboratively succeeded in generating increased renumeration in part with ‘limited edition’ DL Amex Reserve cards (arguably the Citi Exec card’s closest DL AXP-issued counterpart) containing PM-NW retired 747-400 content. Amex even offered a mechanism to replace your card seamlessly online similar to what is now in effect for the Platinum card or the vast gallery of different designs Discover card offers. Would be nice to get an Exec card with some retired S80, 757, or 767 content but expectations need to be managed accordingly.

Centennial cards are flowing!

Update: my 1/18 request to "replace damaged card" using the desktop computer version of citi.com was waiting upon my return home this evening and contained the centennial logo.

FWIW, I requested standard US mail shipping for replacement (but was offered a no cost overnight option) and it arrived in a standard envelope with a return address of a PO Box in St. Louis, MO 63179. Citigroup and CitiMortgage have a large back office in nearby O'Fallon, MO off Highway K.

As for the card itself:
  • No texture or emboss indentation of any sort
  • No mention of special edition on back of the card OR the enclosed notice
  • "Replacement Damaged Card" maintained same CID and expiration date

Hope these pointers are of some value to others who may be considering requesting the card. Color me underwhelmed; particularly since AA and Citigroup truly innovated in this space years past. DL and AXP were even able to convert a number of avgeeks & FFs who were otherwise critical of the value proposition of Reserve card at the time based on the design, packaging and unqiueness of retired PM-NW 747-451 content.

Related question.... I know I got my 2 AA Card bonuses over 3 years ago but one of them maybe not quite 4 years ago, so Im worried about not getting a SUB if I apply for one of these new cards.... does someone know if I can call Citibank and have them confirmed how long ago my last SUB was...? also, not sure how they count this timeframe, is it from the day of account opening or the day of SUB award/posting...?

Thanks !!
Gaucho100K / Alex

PS: thinking of applying for the Platinum select, already have a Citi AA Business MasterCard and a Citi AA World Elite MC so Im aiming to go for the 80K SUB. Thanks !!

My idiot friend lost his wallet INSIDE HIS HOUSE (how do you do that?). He's one of my authorized users. I called Citi for a replacement and it came today, with the centennial logo. I'm gonna report the chip in mine as defective (so the card number doesn't change which would be a nightmare because I've got everything on auto-pay) when the next three weeks of crazy are over and I'm home for more than a day, because I want one. It looks nice.

Also gonna tell them to send it US mail, because this one was in a thin Fedex 9x11 envelope left on the ground in front of the community mailboxes... quelle sécurisée!
