Upgrading with an extra seat
2 good size guys flying to Florida. Booked an extra seat to give us some room.
Got an offer to upgrade for $90 to first. If I upgrade the two of us, do I need to upgrade that now useless third seat? Or can I just get the credit for it?

You should be able to upgrade each passenger individually. Then you can cancel the extra seat in coach and you'll have future flight credit. Not sure if this can be done online or if you need to call, but worth a try. You may have to call in and separate the reservation into two different PNRs - but I'm not 100% sure.
