? ba flight availability with aa miles

We have planned a trip to italy and sicily in oct. 2024. Our return trip is on 10/16/2024 nap/lhr/iad. I have been able to put lhr/iad in f on ba on hold. I can't find flights on ba nap/lhr in any class that whole week. Ba shows award availability on all days in both economy and business. What are my options?

Try looking at it as a multi-city itinerary - NAP->LHR for one, LHR->IAD for another - and see if that doesn't fix the issue. I booked a trip like this last year and had to do that to make it display.

I've tried this, but even when you can find availability, I find that it ends up getting priced as two separate awards on AA.com.

It does -- on aa.com. But if you just place the itinerary on a complimentary hold on aa.com and then call AA, sometimes the itinerary can be repriced as a single award.

The OP might also find this thread instructive:

Can customer service add an additional to flight on hold?

Thanks all. I tried all of those to no results. Did ask when I booked the lhr/iad segment if I could add the nap/lhr segment. We will see.

Thanks. I did ask that today when I booked the lhr/iad segment. The agent assured me I could. We will see.

Hmm, I was not aware of this and when I booked last year it showed up as two separate award redemptions, even though I did it over the phone with an EXP agent. If they were combined into a single award redemption, would it typically have saved miles in a case like this?

Yes it should be an individual award as long as the destination falls in the same award zone.
