This is the order that I remember the most and the order that I frankly think works the best.

I don't have strong feelings. EXPs in Y dont hold up F pax on the plane really. I'm good with either one.

The bigger issue is gate crowding and lack of enforcement. Neither of those seem to be ever addressed.

I’m so exhausted with this.

I’m EXP.

Upgrades are not why I am EXP.

Upgrades in app are so cheap that I just buy them.

All the other benefits of EXP make it worth it for me.

I have zero issue with 8C on every flight, and it still is a great value for my limited loyalty.

Buy the upgrade.

with all respect, you can just skip the thread.

Buying the upgrade may not be an option for everyone, be it corporate policy, financial preferences or financial situation.

Obviously, paying more solves problems. The point of a loyalty program is to try to keep captive audiences, across the spending spectrum.

I can't imagine how cheap a domestic upgrade would have to be for me to pay for it (excluding lieflats). Domestic F just isn't that good.

On the other hand I would pay a lot to go from regular economy to MCE. Regular economy is horrible.

Not to super derail, but PPro is group two boarding right now. I should know because I'm current Ppro (target EXP end of this month!) and have gotten group 2 on my boarding.

And also per AA website reference-
"

Priority boarding

You are among the first invited to board the plane as an AAdvantage® status member. After our ConciergeKey® members, uniformed U.S. military and First Class customers, you are welcomed to board as follows:

Right! PP was OWS at first then became OWE when AS joined OW.

I need to add another section with the latest one. What I had listed at 2021-Present actually was 2021-2021

Its not worth $59 or $79 when you receive 1) a can of coke (or two) which has a value of $1.00 at retail, and 2) a snack basket that contains a mini bag of chips and a package of Biscoff which has a value of about $1.25 at retail.

My tush fits comfortably in 1A as much as 8A.

EXP is certainly watered down as of late, I think that the only real status for upgrades is CK. In my case, since I travel VERY heavy all the time, I chase EXP because the luggage allowance benefits are worth a ton of $$$ to me, those 3 checked bags at 70 pounds are very valuable. As for the upgrades, Im MIA based so my batting average is somewhere around 400, which I am thankful for. I very very rarely will buy upgrades as the offers I get are all beyond reasonable. I will have a better LP balance at the end of this qualifing year so I guess I will be able to see if there is a noticeable difference between 210K and 260K-ish LP for a full qualifying year.

All in all, I think that we all must accept that US domestic air travel is pretty much hardship, unless you have the budget to pay for F (discounted or not) all the time.... and perhaps the only true value on CK is the coverage you would expect to get in an IRROPS situation.

Just my 2 cents........

Cheers,
Alex / Gaucho100K

I don't know what routes you fly but on the ones that I do, upgrades are not cheap. The only "cheap" upgrade I've seen recently was SAF-PHX for (what I recall) $79 for an hour flight. As both my wife and I were flying and we had two exit rows on the CRJ700, that's $160 for no difference in service (we'd get a cocktail either way) against a probability of an upgrade. Other than that, the price differences I get are the difference between my coach fare and business when I book. Yes, if you book last minute, that gap shrinks but even with flights booked 2 weeks out it is a pretty large gap.

I think many are using miles for F bookings (which usually are booked as J - domestic 100K one way). This gives you last seat availablilty.
Good friend has now been EXP since LP started due to high spend. Never been elite on any airline before. Then just always books F domesic reward - regardless of the amount.

AA must love him. I seriously doubt that "many" people are doing it.

Does he have several million in CC spend per year or something? At 100k a pop those miles go fast
