AA Status Challenge Question

Hi Team,

I’ve never flown AA before but got quite alot of AA trips coming up (due to work) and saw on a few blogs that if you call up CS, you can pay upfront a fee to get into their status challenge. I think I’ll try for the Plat Pro challenge. A few questions:

1. Is this still a thing? I haven’t actually seen it advertised on their website.
2. Can I email the helpdesk instead of calling? Any experiences doing this?
3. I have Air NZ status - will this help my case?
4. What prices have you guys been quoted for trying to start a Plat Pro challenge?

Thanks in advance!!

Its called the Instant Status Pass. Ultimately you must join AAdvantage first. Then you call up Customer Service to request for ISP and pay the fee. If you have no status with them, you start at the bottom elite tier, eg Gold status. It does not matter if you hold Air NZ status.

..In phase one, each elite tier requires earning the following number of Loyalty Points (this is roughly one third of the normal annual requirements, which makes sense):
Basically you must reach at least 10K Loyalty Points for you to maintain Gold. But you are allowed to keep earning beyond. If you say you earn more than 42K LP in the first 4 months of the challenge, you will get Platinum Pro for the next 4 months.
